1. But can we trust a politician's parent
to be fair and balanced?

6. I'm sure they do! And if any of them make TV ads, I'll post and enjoy!
:)

(Sadly, I think some candidate mothers have passed on -- Obama's, for example, much too soon.)

4. Why
Hillary's mom lives with her... At least HRC didn't throw her mom in a nursing home where they are treated like detritus...

7. I don't feel like it tells me anything about Hillary. Just doesn't
seem to be making a point worth spending money on.

9. It humanizes her
her opponents often depict her as a soulless automaton. It reminds us that she's a mother and a daughter.

11. I really don't like when people say that referring to her.
She has never not seemed human to me. I like her, she has a sparkle, but not an obvious easy "politiciany" way like Bill. I think she should embrace her nature, and other people will appreciate her authenticity, otherwise it all seems so forced. IMHO

20. Just like Bush gets destroyed. He should put out some good family...
videos too. Maybe it would humanize him also? I would bet that all of our politicians corrupt or not, love and take care of those in their circles, so that ad really means shit in the campaign. Unless there are people that believe that politicians treat us like they do their peeps but I'm sure most people with common sense can see it carries no weight in showing us the politician. Nice to see her mom though, I had never seen her before then.

21. DING DING DING! Bleachers7, you're our grand prize winner!
...My kid would make the best president...Really now?
I'd hate this ad no matter who the subject was. I hate all family political ads because they're pandering at worst and redundant at best. Your spouse/parent/kid is willing to step in front of a camera and tell the world that that you're awesome? So what?

15. I do think Hillary is "a good person"
Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 05:58 PM by polichick
She plays hardball because she's learned that she has to in this most brutal of male games ~ but I truly believe she is a very good person who has empathy for others.

16. Wow, I've never heard Mrs. Rodham speak.
Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 06:49 PM by Beacool
Remember how many years passed before we heard Chelsea utter a word in public? I remember that she and Hillary were in Africa and she spoke to some children.

I have no problem with this ad, I also didn't have a problem with McCain's mom. I think that it's nice to see the candidates' families out there supporting their kin. Well, almost all family members. I guess that we'll never see an ad with Giuliani's children....... LOL!!
