BTW, in case you don't know - Joe Biden's son is being deployed to Iraq
I mean, this has been out there for awhile. Living in Delaware I knew about this back in August. Ironcially Beau Biden is also the Delaware Attorney General. You'd think a kid who holds an elected office and has a dad for a high power senator could get special priveledges otu of being sent to Iraq - well think again. Beau is heading over in the beginning of 2008

1. He probably could have gotten out of it in a second.
However, it would appear that Beau Biden is simply a better man than certain unelected presidents I can think of. :grr:

8. Beau said he signed up, and he would go.
Biden tried to talk him out of it.

2. I just watched the piece from ABC showing Biden being sworn in as Senator
by his sons' hospital beds (they were injured in the car accident that killed his wife and daughter). You could see how much he cherishes them - and that's why he went home to Delaware EVERY DAY after work so he could be with them at night and see them in the morning before he left again. If anyone questions Bidens desire to bring our troops home, or his commitment to providing our troops with the best equipment possible, they're not paying attention.

34. BTW - Joe still comes home every night
Ever wonder why Biden is a big supporter of Amtrak - he, Carper and representative Castle all come home each night.

But then again it's only a 45min train ride home each night

and it's no accident that both of Joe's sons are successful. He did a great job of instilling in them, what was important. Much like Joe's dad did with him.

9. He's one of the few who has been able to stay a real person.
He's not only smart in a way that gives him a lot of expertise; he's also smart in a human way. He knows he has to actively remind himself that he's only a man and of the despair that comes with hardships. He also often mentions that his hardships are not unique, that millions of Americans have suffered in countless ways like he has. He's a good guy, a rare guy. I don't just like him as a leader. I like him as a man.

Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 07:01 AM by LynneSin
So it's not like the guy will be right there in the front line. But from what I read about Iraq well - it's all the shit over there.

Beau is going because about 15 years ago he made the commitment to the Army National Guard and now it's his turn to go. He could get out of serving but that's not what Bidens do.

36. Joe taught his children to stick with their commitments
Joe wants this war ended. Beau Biden isn't some 18 year old kid thinking a tour in Iraq would be fun. I believe he's nearing his 40s - old enough to hold an elected office in Delaware (Beau Biden is our State Attorney General). When Beau was going to Law School probably about 15 years ago he joined the Army National Guard. I don't know if you know this - but Joe Biden isn't some fricking multi-millionaire like some of the candidates. Beau probably joined in order to help put himself thru college and law school.

Beau's number is up and his group is being sent to Iraq. And showing the kind of kids that Joe Biden raised, Beau isn't one to find excuses to get out of commitments he made ages ago.

I suspect that one day Beau is gonna have dad's old seat.

Joe pretty much tried like hell to talk him out of it. But Beau can be a force for good. I like having good Democrats in charge of important things like this.

There is a massive difference between Dem and Repub political families. Mitt's sons are serving America by working on Mitt's campaign because they feel only poor people should die for a war they support.

38. This shows yet again the kind of cloth the Biden's are made from...
Honor, Integrity, Committment.
We all know that Beau Biden could get out of this at the drop of a hat on his own credentials. We also know that Joe could snap his fingers and make the orders for his son disappear. The Biden's could also use this as political fodder for Joe's campaign, but they all have too much integrity to do that. This is why Joe MUST be our next president.

The story of Beau Biden being sent to Iraq should be all over the news, but it isn't. At least I haven't heard it.

Each time the Beau Biden story airs, another one should air right afterwards about what fun things the Bush twins might be up to these days. :eyes:

I've always liked and respected Joe Biden, and it grows every day.
