MSNBC is running wild with that Cocaine Clip from Hardball!
I have seen it two times in 15 minutes as they talked about it each time in different hour blocks. I wouldnt be surprised if we see it at least once every hour, then on Hardball, etc. Keep it up MSNBC!

3. So Sorry
Yesterday on Hardball, they were talking about the Sheehan situation and Obama's drug use, and while Mark Penn was in the middle of a defense/we apologized thing, he kept on saying cocaine when he didnt really need to, and Joe Trippi called him out on it saying, "There he goes again, saying Cocaine."

4. Yeah, I guess it wasn't going to "blow over in 12 hrs" afterall...
I've been working at home today, have the TV on in the background, and its been running since this morning with the video, interviews, and the caption "Hillary Damage Control". These 24 hour news channels really do have too much time on their hands.. I doubt this is what Ted Turner had in mind all those years ago, LOL. Twenty-four hours per day to cover only two stories daily.. go figure.

6. Cocaine?
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 02:15 PM by suston96
Yeah, Obama skipped the cocaine thing to a reporter who was interviewing him. (2003) He just talked about the pot.

The reporter asked if he did any other drugs. "That'll suffice," Obama said. Problem was, the reporter had read Obama's book where Obama admitted he did cocaine.

So you see, it isn't MSNBC or Penn running wild. It's the Obama protectors who want to kill this drug use thingy and accuse Hillary of gutter politics for keeping it running.

Edited for link: http://www.mapinc.org/newsnorml/v03/n1786/a06.html

Obama, 42, told me recently he had tried marijuana in high school and hasn't consumed any illegal drugs in 20 years. When I asked if there was anything beyond marijuana in his past, Obama said, "That'll suffice." But the book includes a passage in which Obama discusses how he dealt with questions from his mother when he was 17 and a senior in high school. The context of the book also makes clear that he was trying to deal with the problems his race presented.

"I had learned not to care," he wrote. "I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though. ..."

8. "A little blow when I could afford it."
Obama has always been honest about it. Shithead Penn is trying to exploit the issue.

Feel free to ask questions.

9. This is a good thing for Obama?
I could see a focus on the mudslinging by Hillary being beneficial but associating Obama over and over again with cocaine would seem to be a bad thing.

I guess it depends on the editing.

20. The important factor for Obama
is that this has been known for YEARS now. This should not come as new news to anyone in Iowa or New Hampshire. He's always been open about it...

Penn knows ( like Rove ) that this will muddy the waters for everyone and an exasperated public will except the politics as usual and pick name over progress.

22. more media attacking Clinton. What a surprise
And, I am not surprised that anyone on DU sleeps with the enemy by supporting the tear-down of the candidate.

Obama admitted his cocaine use. It is not something-that-shall-not-be-named.

How disgusting that there are rules set up just for Obama: can only mention the "drug" use in passing as a badge of honor, something he overcame.

And conversly, any blink of Clinton's is fair game.

What a load of crap.

23. (1)Drug use (2)not saluting the flag(3) too "hip" to wear a flag in his lapel.
This kind of stuff doesn't play well in "flyover country".

You can bet the rightwing whackos are going to create a steady drumbeat about Obama being outside of "Mainstream America".
