What a load of horseshit!

This is media manipulation of public opinion at it's worst. They don't show you the Ad they are tearing apart, but they give you a handful of negative comments regarding it. Oddly, this pops out right as Obama's rising and Hillary is flailing.
Does CNN even try to hide their bias anymore?

3. Frank Sesno is some douche on the Situation Room
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 07:05 PM by JackORoses
He is supposed to give a report on Obama's effort to reach out in Iowa.

Instead he goes on a scathing review of a new TV Ad being completely negative towards Obama. Picking him apart and making him out to be disingenuous.

It was like an Anti-Obama commercial put on at the expense of CNN.

This followed a Wolf Blitzer bit about Hillary's latest TV Ad with her Mom and Chelsea.
Wolf made sure to point out Hill's softer side and what a good daughter she is. He made no criticisms.

2. I just happened to catch that and was nearly struck down mute by the sheer
partisan negativity and hatefulness of it. Obama ran a really nice 60-second ad in Iowa, inspirational and uplifting, and Sesno (looking half crosseyed and really creepy behind his glasses) shredded it with innuendo that it was somehow "contrived" to look like the Convention and had "no substance". It was truly, truly a horrid hit piece.

5. I saw it, too. The guy tore it apart into a million pieces, even "pointing out" there were no Black
people in the audience that had people "literally" looking up to him, with a hypnotic gaze (paraphrasing), saying there was no substance (like you said), no "there" there, questioning its ACCURACY, saying if you strip away all the "fancy" lighting and theatrics, it's really empty rhetoric, etc.

Then they had the Hillary commercial and had a segment of how she's going positive, took responsibility for Shaheen's smear, put that behind her, calling for a truce, showing her softer side, and not critiquing HER at ALL. :eyes: It was really a disgusting display of favoritism.

12. Yes. That's right. Thanks.
And he made sure to point out there wasn't ONE Black person in the ad, claiming it was on purpose since Iowa is about 94% White, like it was for nefarious reasons. :eyes:

4. If they tried for a hit piece I think they missed. The main thing they could say was

that there wasn't a lot of substance in the ad. OK. That isn't exactly damaging because the ad wasn't exactly promoting itself as a substantive explanation on a specific policy. All the candidates have some of the more general ads.

edit to add - I didn't see the full thing so I may have missed some of the nasty parts.

7. I think you're right.. I think they missed and moreover, I think it made them
look petty. I found myself wishing Sesno would shut up and just run the Ad.. the Ad was *that* good. Surely to god people who don't read DU see through this chyte :-)

8. CNN is controlled by House of Saud - who does House of Saud want in the White House
to protect their interests as they've become accustomed the last 4 decades?

11. I still remember when Turner launched CNN and how totally excited I was.. it's come
a long way (downhill) and the entire concept of 24/7 news has become so totally corrupted. It's sickening.

a longtime Bush loyalist - by getting TIME/Warner to pick up CNN first and THEN bring AOL in with INFLATED Enron style accounting to acquire TIME/Warner, Ted was pushed completely out of position where he could have any impact whatsoever.
