The likability factor
I think it is a major thing. Who has it? Who doesn't? Here's how I rank the dems and repuke candidates:

Democrats:

Obama
Biden
Edwards
Clinton/Dodd/Kucinich
Gravel

Repukes:

Hucky
Paul
Gramps
Rudester
Der Mittmeister
Tank
Hunter

If our nominee is Obama, he beats any of the repukes on likability. I think it's gonna be the repuke establishment candidate, Mitt. And Obama provides a great contrast to cardboard man.

If our nominee is Clinton, well, I think even she beats Mitt on likability. She may come off as too reserved and cold. He comes off as a world class phony.

If our nominee is Edwards, he's hands down more likable than Mitt, and way more natural.

1. If it's Obama vs. McCain
we get our asses handed to us. Likability only goes so far,and is no substitute for experience.

2. I don't agree.
I think Obama stands a good chance of beating McCain if that's the match. There's something terribly stale about McCain and he's dour and bitter. I think Obama can hold his own.

5. It's not us learning the lesson.
It's simply a truth that it's a factor to the average voter.

3. If McCain gets the nomination, it is over.
To voters McCain walks all over Hilary with the "experrience" thing.
He can flatten OBama. MCCain is the only Republican who consistently
out polls HRC.

This does not mean we just sit down give up.

6. I really don't think so.
McCain wants to send MORE troops to Iraq. I don't think that'd play well in a general election.

7. In 2000 you heard a lot about likeability...Gore didn't have it and
for some God-unknown reason, the media declared Bush had it...there will be talk about this comparison this year when the likeability factor s brought up...can't see it being as important in light of what a wreck the likeable Bush has been.

8. IMO - Obama comes across as the most
natural and comfortable candidate that I've ever seen. That said, any of our candidates - with the exception of Cankles, is more likable and real than anything that they have to put out there... She is the only one that can screw it up (again.... IMO)....

10. Biden is the most likeable Dem, Obama is the least likeable
on the REpub side, Rudy is the most, Romney the least.
