If these endorsements were to be carried out and McCain wins the Repub nomination...
and either Hillary or Obama win for the Democrats, once again the Democrats are going to be in serious trouble come election day. Another excruciatingly torturous election night. Another 4 to 8 years of endless rhetoric about working together and uniting the country, and another 4 to 8 years of log-jammed proposals with nothing getting done. I didn't think our country could survive as a great nation when the American people decided to make Bush president, particularly when they gave him 4 additional years. I was almost right. But 4 more years of Bush-like policies and this easily made prophecy will become a reality for sure. Americans are just too dumb to run a democracy. We no longer deserve what we have and we will surly lose it. As fate would have it, we are losing our country to liars with the offer of shiny trinkets.

I'm going to imbed the pic in my sigline, again.

Any little thing I can do to remind folks of McCain's past, um, "youthful" indiscretions. :-) MKJ

on edit: done!

4. This is not 2000 or 2004. It's a wholly different political environment
that much closer mirrors 2006, and the political climate doesn't favor any repuke. Just look at the Novemeber Pew Report which document the shift in party identification.

6. I'd put Joe against anyone the Repigs put up, as he'd debate circles around them.
He has it all and is going for broke. If you pass him by, you are asking for the same old/same old. Joe is trying to break the White House mold of lying and corruption by bringing decency and honesty back to our government. He knows the Constitution inside and out, and I promise you that one of the first things he will do is hand that Constitution back to us, the people. It's been gone too long.

I'm asking all Iowans on this board to promote Biden in your family, workplace and neighborhood. You won't be disappointed.

Gotta go with Joe!

7. I didn't read their endorsement of McCain, but I don't think he's that strong.
He's been saying the solution to the Iraq fiasco is to send in MORE troops. I don't think that'd go over well at all in the general election.

8. I think, unfortunately, that McCain is the ONLY viable candidate they have..
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 10:44 AM by K Gardner
Guiliani is not viable in huge areas of the country, like the South
Romney splits the evangelical base
Huckabee won't be supported by any but the evangelical base
Thompson.. not viable
Hunter.. wack job
Tancredo...fearmonger wack job
Ron Paul.. heh, good guy but..

McCain has had his out of favor moments with the base, but he remains firmly entrenched in Republican rhetoric, will appeal to the base, will appeal to the RW centrists who don't want to go Democrat, maybe the independents who are a bit hawkish...his record is going to keep him afloat when the others sink.

People who wouldn't have voted for McCain WILL vote for him rather than vote for Hillary. I agree with your assessment, not sure about the Obama factor..

I just hope McCain sinks early on. I'll breathe easier.

9. All the Repugs I know are excited about Huckabee.
And, I do mean excited. His wife sure doesn't look excited (or, in agreement with this whole shebang), so I don't know how she is going to play in Peoria, as they say.

All I can say is, "Watch out for the wave!"

10. It's going to be interesting to see how Huck goes over once
they start trying to sell him to the rest of the country, that's a given :-)
