If Lieberman does what is rumored...
It's time for the Democratic Senate leadership to do what is needed to be done: cut all cords with this man like he is a dead, rotting fish and let him float away.

So what if the balance of power changes. Let's face it, nothing is going to get done in '08 and rather than the Dems being beat over the head for being the Senate Majority and getting nothing done, let them give it all up for 11 months so they can run against the "do nothing" Republicans in the Senate.

But this won't happen because our Democratic leaders and nothing more than followers and as shown in the past (by their refusal to vote against the Iraq War resolution) they want to keep their day jobs too badly than doing the right thing for this country.

If Lieberman does what he is rumored to do, then Reid should reach down, find his spine and do what needs to be done. Fuck this "strategy" and parrying back and forth. It's time to go to war with these fuckers and start spilling some figurative blood.

4. Lieberman is Going to Jump Ship Soon Anyway
and it will be far more convenient for the Repiggies to have the Repiglickin media covering Repiglickin Senatorial committees investigating Democrats who are trying to run for election.

5. K&R I absolutely agree....
We still have the House to block legislation and initiate investigations. And we should be able to pull together 41 votes to block Judicial appointments in the Senate. We don't have enough votes to overide Bush vetos anyway. Let the Republicans in the Senate stew in their own leadership juices if we lose control over the Senate by kicking Joe out of the Party.

Though I think I read somewhere that due to some prior agreement it may not be possible for Lieberman to swing the Senate to Republican control.

7. How do they cut the cords? Is there some action they could take? And, is it
verboten to endorse a candidate from the other side? (I know it's stupid and not surprising in Lieberman's case, but is there a RULE or something?)

Thanks.

8. Lieberman is an Independent.. that means that he can do what he
wants.. He's a major problem for the Senate.. and if he does switch to R then the power switches to r I think.. or would they be dead even then.. I don't remember.. He's probably the reason most of these idiotic bills get passed... the kiss and all sealed the deal.. CT people are stupid.

19. No, Senate stays D even if he switches to R.
The way the senate organization resolutions were done, the senate and house stay in democratic control regardless of how many Ds and Rs.

18. Here's how...
Kick him off every committee and take away any he chairs (I'm not sure which ones they are, but I believe he is involved in the oversight committee on Homeland Security).

It's time to throw him under a bus. He should be shunned and ostracized until he changes parties. And like another poster pointed out, we still have the House and let a tied or one vote majority REPUBLICAN Senate take the heat for not getting anything done next year.

10. Sorry no
As bad as our representation has been so far with our slim minority. No way in hell do I want to see the pukes back in control of what reaches the floor. Its bad but it could be much much worse.

13. All democrats in all 50 states should make it a top priority
to insure the democrats add more senate seats in 08. Then when those 6 to 11 seats are won then hopefully President HRC will tell the senate majority leader to pull crazy joe from all his chairmanships and inform him he is no longer a part of the democratic caucus and he can now go with our blessings over to the repub side of the aisle.

17. Throw him out now.
Its not like a Democrat Senate and House have done anything worthwhile with him in. I say screw him now.

14. eh
Given his Shrum like record with Presidential campaigns that endorsement does not scare me at all. He knows we're going to pick up senate seats so he is enjoying his last year being relevant.
