Reuters photo: McCain and Joementum savor the warm, intoxicating afterglow following their coupling

Senators John McCain (R-AZ) (R) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT) chat at the political forum about Iraq at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington in this file photo from January 5, 2007. McCain, trying to mount a comeback in his U.S. presidential bid, will gain the endorsement of independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, a former Democratic vice presidential nominee, on Monday.

1. "coupling" with Joe Lieberman (or McCain for that matter)? OMG, you have planted an unwanted image
in my poor brain! Now, I'll have it there for the rest of the day...thanks a lot!

2. McCain's original plan was to unveil this endorsement prior to the GOP convention
Edited on Mon Dec-17-07 10:38 AM by BlueManDude
Shows how weak he is to have to play the Lieberman Card so early. There was never any doubt that Liebs would endorse MCCain despite how the media is playing this like it's a big deal.

3. Wow. The looks on those two's faces are the definition of "I'd rather be anywhere else."
Obviously a marriage of political expediency.

10. You understand the reasoning
In CT Liberman switched to Independent, on the promise that the republicans would come over and vote for him. He got some democratic votes but the republicans are the ones who put him in office. Notice they did not vote for the republican candidate.

He now thinks, he and McCain can run as Independent candidates. He thinks he can urge dis-enchanted Democrats and republicans to vote for the McCain-Liberman ticket. Wily and self serving. But these two are pariahs with each of their parties and will be shunned.

People see Liberman as a traitor, look how he slams the Democratic Party. And McCain is too much of a war monger to get the publics vote.

11. McCain doesn't stand a chance.
And Joe, had he any scruples at all, would not be able to show his face in the Senate. The Senate Dems should boo him when he walks in. What a traitor and a disgrace to the party. :(

12. As I said in a different thread, earlier in the week...
...there might be a reason to show the smallest amount of respect to Joe if he made good on his previous threats to knock off the crap and simply join the GOP. Whether he's masquerading as a Democrat, an Independent, or anything other than a loyal "Bushie," it's cowardly and offensive.
