Bush team denies attacking Kerry’s patriotism
George W. Bush’s presidential campaign told John Kerry it “does not condone” any effort to impugn his patriotism but asserted that the senator’s voting record on national security and defense issues is a valid target of political scrutiny.

Responding Sunday to a letter in which Kerry accused President Bush of using surrogates to attack his military service in Vietnam and his subsequent opposition to the war, Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign chairman Marc Racicot said, “I ask you to elevate the remarkably negative tone of your campaign and your party over the past year.”

Kerry had taken umbrage at statements that Sen. Saxby Chambliss made earlier, predicting trouble for the Massachusetts Democrat in Georgia’s primary because of a “32-year history of voting to cut defense programs and cut defense systems.”

In the letter to Bush Saturday, Kerry wrote: “As you well know, Vietnam was a very difficult and painful period in our nation’s history, and the struggle for our veterans continues. So, it has been hard to believe that you would choose to reopen these wounds for your personal political gain. But, that is what you have chosen to do.”

2. Maybe it's me...
but I just don't see the "attack" on Kerry's patriotism here. So he's got a lousy voting record, that's fair game. What a whiner! We need to take another look at Edwards!

4. It's you
they are misrepresenting his voting record to imply that he is unpatriotic and soft on defending our country.

3. Sure, OK, Mr. (p)resident...I believe you!
With your reputation for honesty and truthfulness who could doubt you?

Um, I do have one question, though. When will we see your public condemnation of the references to "Hanoi John"? Oh, I see...that really isn't questioning Senator Kerry's patriotism, just pointing out the facts.

Mr. (p)resident, may I take this moment to make the observation that you have chosen the wrong Senator to malign, this time. In Senator Kerry's words..."BRING IT ON"!!!!!

5. So let me see if I've got this right
the pukes are talking about Kerry's voting record, and Kerry says they need to quit bringing up Vietnam?

Why is Kerry deemed the "electable" one? He cannot win on the mere fact he fought and was wounded in Vietnam. He's got lots a votes on record the machine can try to use against him.

Kerry needs to quit using Vietnam everytime someone mentions anything. He needs to get busy explaining his stand on issues, and quit bringing up the Vietnam War. It is getting to be an eyes roll thing, and it will only serve to water down his actual heroism.

BTW- I am voting for Kucinich on Super Tuesday.
