Ron Paul EXPOSED: $31BILLION in local pork brought home by Ron Paul
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5400303.html

"This year Paul requested 65 earmarks, more than any other congressman in the Houston area, including money for the renovation of an old movie theater in Edna and wild shrimp marketing.

Paul's congressional district also has been among the top in Texas in receipt of federal assistance since 2000, receiving $31 billion from Washington, according to a study by the group OMB Watch. In the first nine months of the 2006 fiscal year, the district received $4 billion in federal aid."

Now can we PLEASE stop anymore Ron Paul BULLSHIT on DU? I live in this little pricks district and he is a fraud! He no more believes nor practices what he preaches than Pat Robertson. But he does it for the same reasons, $$$$ and votes. How many millions has he bilked the dummies for on the internet $10-12 million? IDIOTS!

3. Not exposed. His constituents PAID into that. He's asking for it back....

and to my knowledge votes against increased spending in the budget, but if the budget goes through, not asking for anything does not lower the budget.

9. How much of it was legitimate and how much was pork?
I think that his district includes Galveston bay and the Houston ship channel. The sentence after the 31B figure was thrown out says "His district, which hugs the Gulf Coast, and reaches into Brazoria County, receives a substantial amount of flood control aid."

Maintaining the Port of Houston could be a sizable part of that 31B.

8. He shouldn't try to get earmarks for his district?
HUH???

The overreaction to Ron Paul is incredible. ANd this particular argument is out and out nonsense. He represents his district and he should try to get as much federal money for his district as possible. His district pays taxes. If he didn't do this, he couldn't get elected.

This argument against Ron Paul is dishonest as all hell.

10. Isn't it insane? He's a huge underdog for the Republican nomination yet DUers can't stop talking...
and everytime they open their mouths the arguments coming out are stupider. Are they secret Ron Paul agents, trying to turn us on to him through this?

11. What's with the anti Ron Paul constitutency?
He seems to be somewhat better than the rest of the crop. And he's not going to win the Republican nomination. Shouldn't we just let him be?

12. I hate Ron Paul , but to be fair ...
Just on a few issues I find unacceptable (gold standard, destroying income tax, education) but I do know about that article.

Yes, he represents his district in the earmarks, but then he votes against them! So he's not really a pork spender, he just wants his district represented if there will be pork.
