Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton today will begin to frame the final eight days of the Iowa caucus campaign as a choice between what she says is her preparedness for the White House and her rivals' lack of experience at a critical time for the nation.
The New York senator also tried, in an interview this week with The Des Moines Register, to dampen expectations that she will win the leadoff contest on Jan. 3. Clinton is in a three-way race for the lead, while many caucusgoers say they are willing to change their minds.
Implicit in the closing argument Clinton plans to make across southern Iowa today is that her chief rivals for the 2008 nomination are inexperienced for the challenges she says await the next president.
However, Clinton declined to say whether she will try to make the caucuses a choice between Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and herself.
