Obama has more endorsements from Iowa legislators than any other Democratic candidate
Edited on Wed Dec-26-07 02:39 PM by ClarkUSA
Obama now has the support of twenty members of the state legislature, more than any other candidate. Of Obama's 20 endorsers, 8 of
them backed Kerry last time, two backed Gephardt, and one each backed Edwards and Lieberman.

Here's the full list:

Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad
Rep. Deborah Berry
Sen. Joe Bolkcom
Sen. Bob Dvorsky
Rep. Wayne Ford
Rep. Elesha Gayman
Sen. Bill Heckroth
Rep. David Jacoby
Rep. Pam Jochum
Rep. Helen Miller
Sen. Rich Olive
Rep. Donovan Olson
Rep. Tyler Olson
Rep. Janet Petersen
Rep. Brian Quirk
Sen. Tom Rielly
Rep. Paul Shomshor
Rep. Mark Smith
Sen. Steve Warnstadt
Sen. Frank Wood

Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller, State Treasurer Mike Fitzgerald and former Iowa Democratic Party Chair Gordon Fischer have also endorsed
Obama's candidacy.

In 2004, 55 of 83 state legislators endorsed a candidate, with John Kerry earning a clear majority:

Twenty-seven of them backed John Kerry. That early legislative support was a bulwark for the eventual caucus winner and nominee.
Many legislators got behind Kerry early, even as he trailed Howard Dean in early polls. Dean rolled up eight 2004 endorsements, and Richard Gephardt
had nine.

John Edwards had backing from six legislators in 2004. Four of those same legislators are backing Edwards again, while the two others have not publicly
committed.

Update: Edwards' remaining two have endorsed Biden and Obama.

2. Source? Do theses people know they "endorse" Obama? Link?
If your list is correct, less than 1/4 of the Democrats (what, 85 or so?) in the legislature support him. That's "good"?

Worse than we thought..Obama promises Cabinet positions to REPUBLICANS! Ack!

Obama’s cabinet

Published by Len at 12:17 under Democrats, Election 2008, Politics

I have written previously about John Edwards’ and Bill Richardson’s promises to put Republicans in their cabinets if they are elected. I said at the time that I didn’t believe that was such a good idea. I still don’t.

You may now add Barack Obama to the list. He’s even naming names: Dick Lugar, Chuck Hagel and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

(Excuse me. Arnold Schwarzenegger?)

Given the amount of damage that Republicans have done to our country (and the world) over the past decade or so, I simply do not believe that any of them should hold any position of power or trust in the upcoming Democratic administration. Besides, I just do not understand why any of them should be rewarded in any way whatsoever, let alone with cabinet positions.

You may talk about bipartisanship if you wish. That’s a nice dream. But I ask you, where is the bipartisanship that George W. Bush promised to practice when the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006? I sure haven’t seen it. Nor have I seen the 50 Republicans in the Senate (I include Joe Lieberman) show any signs of bipartisanship. All we’ve seen from them is obstructionism.

No, I say. In 2008 we need to put the Republicans where they belong… on the street. They have not earned nor do they deserve any place in the new administration. Period.
