1. Is it Hillary or the 527's supporting her?
You have to be very specific. If it's the 527's, legally she has no control over what they do.

3. Here: it's AFSCME's mailer, which I was told was a legit way to
campaign not even a week ago. Seems like we're not the only ones who think they're playing dirty.

11. keep telling yourself that
'legally' she has no control

yet the ads have been coordinated not to overlap with her other 'legal' ads

surely there's no connection...surely

10. the title of your thread is inflammatory and inaccurate
the flier is from AFSCME, not Hillary. Per federal law, Hillary cannot coordinate with 527's so the title of your thread is factually inaccurate.

50. Funny thing, though
When AFSCME made its radio buy at a NH radio station, a new set of Hillary ads arrived at the very same time.

From the same media buyer.

Scheduled so as to avoid overlap.

Noooo, there's no illegal coordination going on. Keep moveing, nothing to see here.

Even Edwards criticized her for her slimy tactic...
Merry-Go-Round: Edwards Hits Hillary For Mailer Attacking Obama
By Greg Sargent - December 20, 2007, 11:28AM
Okay, stay with us on this one: John Edwards is going after Hillary over a mailer that is attacking Obama. We'll explain.

This morning MSNBC broke the news that a new mailer had been dropped in Iowa faulting Obama's health care plan as follows: "For those without insurance, Barack Obama's band-aid solution is no change at all."

The mailer also uncritically showcased a quote from Edwards, something that could lead readers to think that it came from Edwards -- but in fact, it was produced by a local union that's backing Hillary.

The Attack is in the Mail
By Shailagh Murray
DES MOINES -- Open a mailbox in Iowa this week, and those aren't Christmas cards jammed inside.

A flier that reads like an attack on Sen. Barack Obama by former senator John Edwards actually came from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which is supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton.

"Barack Obama's health care plan is not up to the job," reads the headline, next to photos of a woman with an oxygen tube and a man sitting in a waiting room, his head buried in his hands. Obama, the flier charged, "took timid way out, offering yet another band-aid solution. John Edwards has said 'as many as 15 million Americans would be without coverage' (Sioux City Journal, November 30, 2007) under Obama's plan."

The Edwards camp was not pleased.

"Iowa caucus goers have been sent a direct mail advertisement that appears to be an attack on Senator Obama by John Edwards, but is actually produced and funded by an organization supporting Senator Clinton," read a statement from the former North Carolina senator's campaign.

Jennifer O'Malley Dillon, Iowa State Director for the Edwards Campaign, made the following statement: "There have been a lot of misleading tactics and tricks in the last few weeks, but we've just never seen anything like this before...It's fine to have an honest debate about policy, but Iowans deserve better than planted questions and campaign fliers designed to fool them."

47. sniffa, there's no talking to journalist3072.
She calls herself a "journalist" yet a true journalist wouldn't put people on ignore. They would confront their critics.

Therefore journalist3072 is a fraud and a phony. Plus, I'm proud to be put on her ignore list so I can show what kind of Clinton supporter she actually is. If I were Hilary, I'd be ashamed to call her a supporter.

43. It's a PAC that supports Sen. Clinton. Trust me, her campaign knows and approves
Having worked on several campaigns I can tell you that stuff like that isn't done without running it by the candidate's staff first. My last one the union specifically asked what kind of support we wanted and what form we wanted it to be in.

55. I haven't seen the piece, so my analysis of it is necessarily limited.
But your eagerness to evaluate of my mental state and extrapolate that evaluation to an entire group does not inspire confidence. Your familiarity with the subject of personal attacks, however, is plain to see, even for those of us too dull to keep up with your keen insight.

18. Is anyone surprised that Hillary's being "backdoored" by Bush/Rove?
geez, it's been in the news for awhile now.

Hillary is Bush/Rove/Cheney's choice, to either be the Dem nominee so they can turn on her like pit bulls on steroids in the General, using all
the dirt they can dig up on her (Vince Foster, etc.) .. or ..
at the worst (for them) to be their "trustworthy" DINO shill in the WH who at least nominally supports continuation their insane ME policies.
