OMAHA, Neb. — Database provider infoUSA Inc. said Wednesday it formed a committee for internal investigation and related litigation in response to a shareholder lawsuit and SEC investigation into the company.
The shareholder lawsuit claims the company misspent millions, some of it on Bill and Hillary Clinton. The suit questions why infoUSA founder Vin Gupta used private corporate jets to fly the Clintons on business, personal and campaign trips, why Gupta gave Bill Clinton a $3.3 million consulting contract and why the company paid for extravagant luxuries Gupta enjoyed.
Under its investigation, the Securities and Exchange Commission requested infoUSA produce spending-related documents and documentation related to some trading in the company's securities, infoUSA said.
InfoUSA named five directors to the committee, three of whom joined the board as of Dec. 24. The new board members on the committee are Robin Chandra, George Krauss and Thomas Weatherford. Other members include Bernard Reznicek and Bill Fairfield.
