Biden Recalls the Days of JFK
I have listened to all of the candidates speeches. I try hard to listen with as much objectivity as I can. I listen carefully to the specifics of what each are saying. I also try to listen for recurring themes...each seems to have theirs well rehearsed.

Between the infighting we witness among the media selected top tier, I hear messages of hope and I hear promises. Most of all, I hear what that particular candidates is going to do for us.

When I listen to Joe Biden, I hear a recurring theme of what he believes we can do for our country. It is not merely a message of hope. No, it is a message about how he believes in us, the American people.

This kind of talk has been missing in our leaders for too long. The last time I heard a politician tell me how much he believes in me was during JFK's inaugural. I do not hear this message from any other candidate with the exception of Joe Biden

Don't fool yourself. None of the candidates can bring this country together by themselves, no matter what they tell you. It's going to take all of our efforts to return our country to its former glory. Joe Biden knows this and he doesn't hide from the fact that it will be difficult. But as he has said many times...it is a lack of leadership that has brought us to this low point in our history. And it is leadership that will bring us out into the light of day.

Many here, even those that do not support Joe Biden, openly admit that he is the most qualified, especially in the area of foreign affairs. As for myself, I do not support Joe Biden just because he is the most qualified or the most experienced. No, I support Biden because he is a unique kind of leader. The kind of leader that is realistic enough to know that it will take the American people to change this country. It is not a promise as much as it is a call to serve...a call to defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

This is the kind of approach that I do not hear often enough from the other candidates. It is what sets Joe Biden apart from his fellow dems.

Joe Biden's belief in me makes me believe in him.

1. Putting our shoulder against the wheel
Edited on Thu Dec-27-07 05:31 AM by sandnsea
"It is not that often, maybe once in a generation, when we have an opportunity to put our shoulder against the wheel and move history in a better direction," he said. "If all of you seize that moment with me, if you are ready not just to rebuild New Orleans, but rebuild all the New Orleanses all across America, in the south side of Chicago, in New York City, in Houston, then I am convinced we will not just win an election, but we are going to transform a country."

Obama has been calling on us to work all along. That's how he's got volunteers in every state, getting his name on the ballot at no cost. That's how he's got nearly 1,000 house parties across Iowa, with rides and child care. That's why he is going to put his health care commission on CSpan, so we can see the corporate lies and he can call on US to help fight them.

Obama has been saying this from the first day of his campaign. He's completely framed every debate in this campaign and every candidate is trying to keep up with him, not the other way around. And now he, and his supporters, are knocking out one of the strongest political machines that's ever been around. That's not some abstract promise of hope, that's power in action. Way more power than Biden has ever been able to muster or ever would be.

3. lol
I'm sure you're not, but maybe you'll stop thinking that tearing him down is the way to build Biden up.

4. I didn't see Obama specifically mentioned one time in the OP...
Seems you are a bit defensive about others having a right to their opinion, especially about their own candidate.

No matter though, We'll find out who's listening to whom on Jan 3rd. We'll see who has more power as well.
