We need someone who has experience running campaigns.....Do you know how the Republicans would have a field day when the Obama folks say things without thinking first? Sigh..

48. Axelrod brought up a valid point....Invading Iraq took our eyes off the ball elsewhere...
such as afghanistan and pakistan, where there were REAL threats of al queda. This is an arguement that was made, by the way, BEFORE the invasion of Iraq. But it did not stop Bush from waging war against Iraq.

Since Hillary, Biden and Edwards voted for the IWR, it would be a valid criticism that shows a lack of judgement on all of their parts. Obama at the time warned against Iraq, and mentioned that it would distract our attention from the real threats in the world.

So Axelrod raised a valid point.

Did Axelrod politicise Bhuto's assassination? It already was politicised by the media, and the specific question Axelrod was asked. Making it sound like Hillary would benefit from the assassination because of her "experience" was politicizing the event. Axelrod did what he could to point out that in the real world mistakes have consequenses. Iraq was a mistake, and it helped destabilize the region. It was out of this destabilization that Bhuto was killed. The really sad thing is that so many of Hillary's Fan Club were so dishonest as to say Axelrod said Hillary killed Bhuto. Leave it to that fan club to twist things around in an Orwellian style.

Now in a few days they will be denying they ever said this about Axelrod. Figures.

It seems its easier to attack he messengers than the message - something thats way to common on here. As someone who does not support Clinton or Obama I can't fathom why anyone would even want to be associated with this type of behavior.

its beyond distateful. Its disgusting and vile.

IMO Axelrod should have said "no comment" to the reporter and not answered the question. Same goes for Clintons side as well. A little respect for the dead in time of morning goes a long way.

47. I apologize, I should never have used that expression.
As for what Axelrod said, he was asked a direct question and he needed to answer it in a way that reflected well upon his candidate. He did exactly that. Saying "no comment" would have been spun as an example of Obama's "lack of experience". Basically, anything Obama says about it will be spun negatively, since the accepted MSM frame is "Obama lacks experience in foreign policy". Therefore, Axelrod was smart to get a jab in at Sen. Clinton when he had the chance.

As for the Clinton campaign, Evan Bayh made an unsolicited statement about how Bhutto's assassination should be a reminder of Sen. Clinton's foreign policy credentials.

50. Rightly so....even if it would be a false accusation, everyone would believe it
And of course it would serve to remind everyone once again of Hillary's enabling of the errant penis, or at least turning the other way because of fear of political ramifications to her career....

But of course this surprise will be played later....if need be....during the general election. And so predictable. If you are not a member of the Hillary Herd.

40. What Obama Campaign Manager David Axelrod REALLY said in response in reporters' questioning....
Today after Barack Obama's closing argument speech in Iowa, Obama adviser David Axelrod parried questions from reporters who pressed him
on whether the killing could help Hillary.

Here's one key exchange:

REPORTER: But looking ahead, does the assassination put on the front burner foreign policy credentials in the closing days?

AXELROD: Well, it puts on the table foreign policy judgment, and that's a discussion we welcome. Barack Obama had the judgment to oppose the
war in Iraq, and he warned at the time it would divert us from Afghanistan and al Qaeda, and now we see the effect of that. Al Qaeda's resurgent,
they're a powerful force now in Pakistan, they may have been involved -- we've been here, so I don't know whether the news has been updated,
but there's a suspicion they may have been involved in this.

I think his judgment was good. Senator Clinton made a different judgment, so let's have that discussion.

51. That was a valid point. Something that has been brought out many times before by many folks....
I recall Wes Clark, in 04 making the point that invading Iraq was distracting our attention away from going after al queda in pakistan and afghanistan. This is, and has been, a valid criticism of the Iraq War from the start.

And, since the reporter was asking about Hillary being helped (which already politicised the topic)it was totally apppropriate to point out that the Iraq War had unfortunate consequenses on the spread of terror elsewhere in the Middle East. And it was entirely appropriate in a question asked about Hillary to respond to Hillary's role in endorsing that war by her vote. Although he could have added that Biden and Edwards also voted for the IWR.

So, if you look at experience, compare and contrast Obama's warning at the time that Iraq would distract our attention away from the real terrorists to Hillary's compliance with the most destabilizing event in the Middle East in years.

54. All kinds of problems are being attributed to Iraq, and rightly so.
I'm talking domestic stuff. Horrible responses to natural disasters like Katrina/Rita, tornadoes, and wildfires. Extremely porous borders and ports. Critical infrastructure in disrepair all over the country. All because we are diverting massive amounts of money and resources to this bullshit invasion and occupation.

Wes Clark's organization did a series of ads cataloging the issues that are the direct result of Iraq. "Remember, it's because of Iraq"
