Predictions on how the repukes will place in Iowa?
I don't think the Huckster is going to pull it out. I think it will be Romney, McCain and than Hucky. Anyone else got any ideas about how the Iowa Caucuses will shake out for the pukes?

1. Fred Thompson will come from behind in a surprise win, as the sleeper candidate.
Seeing as he sleeps the most and puts more people to sleep than the others. :-) MKJ

2. 1. Romney - he has the money and the machine
2. Huckster - Jesus-rode-a-dinosaur voters are a motivated bunch
3. Thompson - he still has his supporters and polls better than McCain
4. McCain- this latest bump is just a faze, and when he places poorly in Iowa, his numbers in NH will go down
5. Paul - his supporters are more motivated than 9iu11iani's
6. 9iu11iani - 911 changed everything. Except the Iowa caucuses.
7. Hunter - who?

3. When I suggested Huckabee a few weeks ago...
.. I was told I was insulting Iowans. So to be nice and stuff: Romney. Dead last: Rudy.

4. I think that Huckabee will probably win.
If not, Romney is really his only threat in Iowa. I don't see anyone coming out of nowhere (poll-wise) and topping one of those two.

5. I think the Huckster's
poll numbers will start falling dramatically after his idiotic statements about Pakistan. He makes crap up out of whole cloth.
The latest: He said he had John Bolton (gack!) on his foreign policy team. Funny, John Bolton (gack!) said he hasn't talked to Huck or his campaign. oops.

14. I'm not sure that the average voter is paying enough attention to care.
It's a big story, of course, but people seem pretty resilient to gaffes by Republican candidates. Just look at Bush.

6. Romney, Huckabee, Thompson, McCain, Rudy. In that order.
Hucky's leading in polls, but his only real organization is pastors and the home-school crowd.

7. Huckabee wins narrowly.

I think Romney barely edges out McCain for 2nd. McCain benefits big time from this Pakistan thing in the eyes of Republicans and Romney has been caught in so many lies and misstatements. Also, Romney's support is a mile wide a centimeter deep. No one can come up with a good rationale for his candidacy other than "He looks like a president.".

13. Romney narrowly wins
Just a gut instinct, backed up by a few late polls, that Huck will not make it. So I expect a close win for Romney, something like 29-28.

Third will go to Thompson. I think the McCain surge, at least as it applies to Iowa, is overhyped by the media. Remember, these are hardcore Republican activists - hardly McCain's base. I don't see too many R's standing up at a caucus and saying they're for the guy that bashed the Religious Right in his 2000 campaign, and sponsored an immigration bill they all hate. Thompson is kind of a "None of the above" option (except "None of the above" is mounting a more active campaign). I predict he'll do surprisingly well, then go nowhere.

Rudy will vie with Ron Paul for fifth place.
