Why I Support Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton
1. Her unequalled environmental record
2. Her outspoken and unequivocal support for the right of choice.
3. Her position on economic development in NYS (I am a NYer)
4. Her strength and willingness to bite back when bitten, and to call the "vast right wing conspiracy" what it is
5. I support her because she does not straddle the politics of "unity", but fights for her party
6. Her stance on government reform and domestic security
7. Her willingness to use diplomacy, economic incentives before force
8. Her prescient understanding of the necessity of healthcare reform
9. Her vastly intelligent mind and mental agility
AND
10. She has been a stellar Senator from NY and has fought harder than anyone else for her state. I have no doubt she will do the same when fighting for the whole nation.

1. Thanks for sharing your reasons, mr715
I'd been thinking of making a list of my own, but it would be too long and time-consuming.

Also, I think your perspective as a NYer is important, because she really has done a lot of important work on behalf of NY.

5. You know what I most like about her?
You didn't mention it. Its that the republican hate machine has been throwing everything they've got at her, and she still stands strong. These guys have been intoxicated on their power to smear anybody they want for so long, and her presidency will be a complete mockery of that whole thing. I have policy disagreements with her, but that simple fact makes me like her A LOT.

1. poor health care proposal.
2. her stand on gun control.
3.censorship of video games.
4.her willingness to use diplomacy and economic incentives as opposed to force.
5. she is a total moron. (ever watch her debate? she stammers worse than Nixon did)
6. the fact that she is anti-gun and pro-choice. (this one makes me exceptionally mad because democrats are always the ones saying that you cant be pro war and pro-life, or you cant be pro-gun and pro-life. isn't it hypocritical to be pro-choice and anti-gun because guns kill people?)
7. her stand on government reform and domestic security.

It's not a "home run" as some people want but change needs to be gradual for successful implementation.

11. Uhhh no.
#1 - Prolly the most realistic healthcare proposal to get cross aisle support.
#2 - Her policy position on gun control is the standard of the Democratic party. Its a policy difference, but I agree with Hillary's position.
#3 - I dont consider censorship of video games a real major policy issue. Her stance on Grand Theft Auto was valid, I believe. Shes been extremely strongly pro-civil liberties
#4 - Aha.
#5 - Shes probably the most mentally agile debater in the field. I see competition from Biden. Obama may be equally intelligent, but not as agile. Edwards doesnt seem as intelligent though he is more quick on his feet.
#6 - Embryos are collections of cells. Guns kill human beings.
# 7 - Aha. Suuure.

16. i don't like mindless arguing, i'm here to debate, keep that in mind.
i don't agree with any type of gun control other than taking them from criminals. the second amendment is there for the people to defend themselves from the government, read up on the people who wrote it and you will know this. and I'm not a fan of the mindlessly violent video games, but i love my military game (halo & call of duty) and diplomacy and economic incentives don't work all an embargoes (thats your economical incentive) do is cut off relations with said country. and sometimes force is absolutely 100%needed. the greatest leader of all time said it best, Speak softly and carry a big stick. that means "I will only tell you once." and i am pro-choice, you didn't read what was in the parenthesis. its just strange that one can say you cant be pro-life and pro-war, but you can be pro-choice and anti-gun. Just so you know i am not a republican trying to infiltrate your ranks, nor am i a democrat. I am independent, merely because there is no party worth joining, IN MY OPINION.

23. The 2nd is there to allow states to have their own militia. Otherwise we could own A bombs, tanks,
heliocopter gunships, etc.

Anyone who is dumb enough to believe that rifles and hand guns are a defense against a modern government funded and equipt military hasn't been paying attention.

All the rights in the bill of rights were written to define the relationship of the states to the federal government. The expansion of those rights to cover individuals and to limit state power agaisnt there own citizen is a much more modern event.

I say this even though I'm not in favor of banning individual ownership of hand gun or rifles. But to pretend that they will somehow insure your freedoms or rights against an oppresive government is extremely naive. Sit in your house with your rifles and your hand guns, and try and shoot down the cruise missle as it blows you to smithereens and let me know how that works for you. Good luck.

33. Yes, to protect our states from the greater power of the Feds.
Jefferson took issue with the federalists who supported a stronger federal government. Jefferson supported stronger state sovereignty, and was successful in limiting federal power in a number of areas, including the state's rights to have their own separate militias under state control.

The 2nd amendment was definitely NOT passed to protect individuals from the oppression of the state in which they resided, but instead, against the oppression of the federal government against the states.

The constitution only dealt with the powers of the Feds vs the power of the states, as well as the power of the Feds against the power of individuals who lived in any given state. Thus, the US Constitution in no way prohibited a state from passing laws abridging the right of free speech, or free assembly, but did indeed prohibit the Feds from attempting to exercise such power.

I'm absolutely sure, if Jefferson were alive today, he would not make the ridicules claim that private ownership of rifles or hand guns would be an effective impediment to oppression by a federal government possessing artillery, aircraft, missiles, submarines, nuclear weapons, grenade launchers, etc. We might as well have an amendment guaranteeing the right of citizens to make and posses blow guns and slingshots, and then pretend that would somehow offer us protection us from an oppressive federal government.

35. Is that why in criminal cases they are named "The People VS John Doe?"
They also new what the word "organized" meant, I assume.

Perhaps you could enumerate the differences, as you see them, between the Government and The People. Just so we aren't being vague on our terms here, or assuming that the other person necessarily has the exact same definition or personal mental list of the differences.

26. no my rifles and pistols wont shoot down a cruise missle
but I'm in the army and if it ever comes to a civil war i can get my paws on everything they can.and if you think a group of rag-tag rebels cant hold off a full scale military invasion, look at Iraq, I have been there and fought, and bled. It may not totally snuff out the military but it does a damn good job of holding it back.

All the rights in the bill of rights were written to define the relationship of the states to the federal government. The expansion of those rights to cover individuals and to limit state power agaisnt there own citizen is a much more modern event.

You believe that the First Amendment was about relationship of the STATES to the Federal government?

The Fourth?

The Fifth?

15. Don't forget
She has no integrity. She kept Bill around for politics and not for a real marriage. His ass and all of his belongings would have been on the front lawn the first time he fucked around on me. She kept him after he screwed her over time and time again. What kind of marriage is that? I don't trust her. Never will.

I guess that Hillary must have told you why she stayed with Bill and the state of her marriage. If not, worry about your own love life. It's no one's business how they handle their relationship. Same goes for any other candidate.

Enough with sitting in judgment of other people's marriage!!!!!

29. I support her primarily because she's the anti-Obama
I hope she'll be less centrist in office, than she has a reputation for being. Obama's running to the right of her IMO, so I'd rather take a chance that she's a left-moderate in centrist's clothing, than roll the dice that he is.

32. Why I won't vote for Hillary:

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

aired on Sunday, 12.30.07
http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4066505&affil=wmtw

My husband has historically not told me who he will/has voted for. It took him 8 months after the last presedential primarys for him to let slip who he voted for.
Yesterday he told me with a glee in his eye to watch George Steph. yesterday. I'm pretty sure we've got another NH vote. (grin)

My husband loved the reference to advisers being, "spouses, long time friends, *fathers*, he will be my close confidante..."
