What's the big appeal about Bloomberg?

I never thought he was much more than a big zero either way. I don't understand how this guy could generate any excitement at all if he ran as an Independent. I mean, as interest in NYC mayors goes, it's not even like he's any Ed Koch or anything even close.

What's the big attraction, other than he's got billions of dollars? :shrug:

having old timey republicans and old timey democrats. I would never trust in someone that was a democrat and then a republican and then an independent. he's competent and seems well versed in all aspects of public policy. For a super-rich dude, he seems to have a good understanding of the struggles poor people and even the middle class face. if we had to pick between him and the other Republicans we would easily be better off with Bloomberg. I like our guys over him though.

If Bloomberg generates enough support, and runs not merely as a spoiler, he would have a decent shot at winning.
