Obama Rolls The Dice With Latest Edwards Criticism

Posted December 30, 2007 | 02:10 AM (EST)

While John Edwards announced this weekend that he will ban corporate lobbyists and foreign government lobbyists from his White House, Barack Obama has stepped up criticism of Edwards on everything from his populist views to Iowa ads about Edwards by an independent organization backed by union members.

With these latest remarks, however, Obama is wading into treacherous territory if he thinks no one will notice his close ties to big business lobbyists and their money, all while he attempts to play connect-the-dots on Edwards.

Obama has been relying on the advice and support of Washington lobbyists since early in his 2008 predential campaign. In an article from March of this year on The Hill, Alexander Bolton detailed Obama's K Street connections:

2. I think Obama and his cast of ex-Clinton supporters miscalculated
They continued the attacks on Clinton, and forgot about Edwards. Their attacks are too little too late.

11. Right, but thanks to Nader we got Dumbya who destroyed our country
Nader got hundreds of thousands of votes in Florida that probably ALL would have gone to the real elected President Gore

25. What Nadar said
WAs he would run if Hillary won the nomination, and maybe if Obama won, but he said he would "not" run if Edwards won. I never heard him say "John Edwards if more like me"! He simply said of the three that the other two were in the pockets of big corporations.

10. Sorry, gaiilonfong but I don't see the connection.
Nader was the Green candidate for president, not a Democratic candidate for the presidential nomination. A vote for Edwards is a vote for Edwards, not for Clinton or against Obama or anything else. This is our party's nominating process and its a time to voting for the greater of goods, not the lesser of evils. Vote for who you feel would best lead this nation not against someone you dislike.

12. I don't disagree
But I am afraid that IF Edwards wins in Iowa, the Clinton machine will just crank it up and we are doomed.
I am torn between Obama and Edwards, and so I am making this calculation because I cannot bear a Clinton nomination.
Sorry but it is the way i feel!

27. If Obama wins
The Clinton machine will crank it up, and the bad thing is that they will make mince meat of Obama. Edwards can, and will take them on. Edwards has a real message the people like, Obama has resorted to attacks because he has no real plan.

If you think Hillary has been negative in the past with Obama, just wait and see what happens if it comes down to him and Hillary! :nuke:

15. What a pile of crap
According to you, then, should there even be any candidates in the primary other than Hillary and I am going to guess Obama?

John Edwards will NEVER turn to a third party candidacy like Nader did.

5. So sad that the Edwards supporters are reduced to that.
The good news is that I never considered supporting him, so I do not have to change my mind, but really, really sad. I just wonder if it is his supporters or him.
