Biden over Edwards, here's why
Joe Biden has great experience in international and security matters that John Edwards does not. In these troubled times a strong domestic policy is certainly needed and that is where Edwards shines, but to my way of thinking he is a one-trick-pony. So I chose Biden over Edwards.

1. I agree
I think Edwards has grown and matured a lot since 2004 and I was impressed with him early in the race, but Biden's experience in so many areas, especially foreign relations is vital right now.

2. Biden's strength is his foreign policy
that's where he shines. Doesn't that make Biden a one-trick-pony?

5. Biden's foreign policy experience has been the focus
lately because of the times we live in. In 35 years, he has been a leader on many issues.

6. No, because he sees how it all ties to domestic issues....
so he's looking at the big picture.

4. I'd sooner go Richardson if that were my most important criteria
which it isn't. Richardson actually did something more than hold Senate hearings.

Biden simply has too much conservative baggage for me to lift. I rank him only ahead of Gravel at this point. I would much prefer Chris Dodd even over Biden.

12. Richardson probably is a good diplomat
I do not think he has the overall understanding and strategic vision. In other words he can be good at implementing a policy, not at making it. His recent blunder after Bhutto's assasination is a case in point.

20. That's a good distinction
He's made several blunders as I recall and I have to admit I was surprised. I really expected more from him.

8. Will Biden even be in the race when your state votes in its primary? I thought he was going to drop
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 04:31 PM by Stop Cornyn
if he didn't finish third or at least a very close fourth place.

Am I misremembering?

13. It looks to me
like a strong 4th place finish will keep him in the race. I fully expect him to do better though. I just hope and pray that I'm right.

I love it when I'll ask a friend who they are leaning towards, or who they like and they say, in this voice like I might think they are weird, "I really like BIDEN!" lol Like they worry that they are alone or something. :)

I think he could really, really catch fire, and I hope that he doesn't get out of the race if he doesn't finish third.

15. I can't recall specifically, but I think he said he'd drop out if he didn't finish 3rd but a month
or two later, I think he back-tracked and said he'd stay in the race even if he finished 4th but only if his 4th place finish was really close to the top tier.

I'm 95% sure about that.

I definitely preferred Biden, but for a while I was apprehensive about saying so. Not anymore! I decided to stick with my convictions and haven't regretted it one minute.

You can say that Bidenites are sitting on pins and needles as this all unfolds.

28. Which did statement did Obama and Edwards also say, the one where he'd drop out if he didn't finish
3rd or the one where he'd drop out if he didn't finish 4th?

You don't have a link, do you? I remember this but I cannot find it now.

9. People don't want experience
People want to feel good about themselves and their president. People don't like being made to feel stupid. They want the easy confidence of the prom king, not the uncomfortable brilliance of the president of the math club. We've been socialized this way and it pretty much seems to explains *.

29. Biden was the Democrat most responsible for the 2004 version's passage.
The earlier versions were not nearly as bad as this latest incarnation.

26. If We Didn't Have Primaries
And we reverted to the former system of brokered conventions and smoke-filled back rooms
the nominee would be picked by professional politicians who are not easily influence by massive
TV advertising, Biden would easily be the choice in a few ballots. I think the primaries are overly expensive and do not get the best candidates. They should be scrapped.

37. Domestic policy drives foriegn policy.
If you don't take care of people at home, they start listening to evil people who are willing to give them a scapegoat to blame. John Hagee ought to be a nut on the street holding a sign. Instead he's instructing the President on Middle Eastern foreign policy and whipping up support for holy war against the demonic people from Nod (whoever he feels like hating on that day). The US shouldn't be driving the world's foreign policy anymore. We abandoned our claim to that position with our short sighted self-interested behavior, recklessness, and obvious indifference to the overall will of humanity and to the suffering of others. It's time we stepped back and let our international institutions grow into full fledged democratic organizations, not US puppets. The next President needs to take care of our decaying country and fully support the decisions of our international institutions. The world does not want nor need a superpower dictating the future to them, it needs collective action done in a truly democratic manner.
