It's so nice watching Obama's fallacy of hope campaign implode before our very eyes
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 04:28 PM by Herman Munster
The way things stand right now Edwards and Clinton clearly have the momentum and Obama is in desperation mode as he sees a 3rd place finish and Dean like implosion in his future. Candidates doing well don't go on the attack.

Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 04:32 PM by applegrove
I am reminded of how, after the 2004 election, GOP people got on the mixed boards and gloated their heads off - ridiculing those who lost (us). Not something we want to make a habit of. Adults try and stay away from the negative emotions.

I see... "well, they did it too!" is a wonderful defense of one's own behavior. If someone posts something both offensive and pointless, then civility, manners and honor be damned! I'll post offensive and pointless musings of mine own because well, they did it too...

And lest your fur fly in a fallacious direction, I have neither chosen on, nor ruled out a candidate yet.

14. Ahhh
He represented something that was good and pure and noble but was corrupted along the way...It is a story told many a time before...When this race started I wanted him to win with every fiber in my body because I felt the election of a black man to our highest office would be a redemptive moment for our nation...For the forty acres and a mule that was never forthcoming ...But it was not to be...

When the media anoints somebody The Chosen One whether it be an athlete, a politician, or a celebrity it is natural for some folks to embrace that person...It is also natural for some folks to reject him....

I was a ten year boy from a politically active family when Bobby Kennedy ran for president...My mom had taken me up to front of a rope line in 1964 in Rego Park, New York when he was running for senator of New York to shake his hand... I still have an autographed picture of him on my dresser drawer that is now forty years old...He was a good and decent man but he wasn't a cardboard saint... He ran as the brother of the martyred president but I don't remember him claiming messianic status or his followers attacking anybody that claimed he was a a politician with all the benefits and liabilities ambition brings...

Ironically if Obama was to win his victory would have undermined the principles on which he ran...These men and women are not cardboard saints... They are complex people with all the complexities that are unique to our nature...

I have had many a argument over Hillary Clinton on this board...I defended her here because I felt she was under siege and when I defended her I felt I was under siege too...It was a vicious cycle...But in my defense I never made her into something she wasn't... I never said she was more or less noble than her competitors...That her motives were purer...

They are all politicians, albeit they are politicians on our side, and I am sure each and every one of them want to make life better for Americans; especially for those Americans who need our help the most...But none of them are beyond reproach and when you present yourself as being beyond reproach some folks are going to become alienated...

25. Self Righteous?
I am far, far from perfect...That's why I don't demand or expect perfection from others...If you were here the past few months you would see that the supporters of one candidate held their candidate out as perfect and attacked the candiate and the supporter of any candidate that challenged him...

55. I think Sulawesi has a point -- there is an incongruous # of Obama-bashers here
although, fortunately, there are a lot of Obama supporters too, to answer them. However, in many of the most hostile threads, like the one demanding an apology from Obama for letting McClurkin on his podium, the Obama supporters often stay away (a general phenomenon on attack threads -- usually only the supporters of the attack congregate there).

Especially in a primary/caucus. Negative attacks are used for voter suppression of one's opponent(s). He is doing well, but by suppressing even a small number of voters of his opponent(s) could make a world of difference.
