Holy shit! Did you hear about the huckup's press conference?
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 05:21 PM by cali
Just heard this on NPR: The Huckup held a press conference to piously announce that he wasn't going to go negative against Romney in response to Romney's negative ads. so after this sanctimonious intro, he says that they were fully prepared to go negative and even had the ad in the can, and to prove it, he was going to show it. At this point, the entire room of reporters burst into incredulous laughter So he showed this negative ad on a big projection screen- to more laughter. When asked afterward if he wasn't being hypocritical, he answered that if he hadn't shown the ad, the press wouldn't have believed that he actually had the ad. Suurre.

Full blown melt down. And of course, Mitwit had a field day with it.

7. Swiftboating?
Since he showed it to a bunch of reporters, do you think that he's counting on some footage of the ad for the nightly news? Maybe a nice column about it? That's how the swiftboat ad got shown all over the country.

10. I don't have TV, but I would be shocked if this didn't get played
on the news and all the talking head shows. Evidently there were 150 reporters there and 8 TV crews. And I don't think he's gonna like the way it gets covered.

13. Would you vote for a dishonest Republican before an honest Democrat?
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 05:47 PM by shain from kane
Huckabee got nailed the other day when he was painted into a corner, and had to admit that Romney was dishonest. Then, he was asked whether he would support Romney if he was the Republican nominee. After he said that he wasn't sure about that, then the reporter implied that he would then be supporting the Democrat. After he said that he definitely wouldn't be supporting the Democrat, he was asked whether he would rather vote for a dishonest Republican than an honest Democrat?

This article does not show the true extent of his gaffe, which I have seen several times repeated on TV.

17. Beautiful! I hope to christ Huck wins, so that our candidate
can make a damned fool of him between now and November.

This whole soap opera with the repukes as been so fantastic to watch. They are truly self-obliterating before our eyes.

McCain is the only candidate who worries me now, but as for the rest, any one of them who gets the nomination is going to be destroyed--absolutely destroyed.

It will be a consummate pleasure to watch.

19. Actually, that's brilliant. Why'd he do it? He had an ad that he didn't have the $ to run so he made
it into a news event so all the Iowa news stations would cover it for him. Brilliant. I bet Huckabee got $250,000 worth of TV coverage for his ad just for the price of producing it.

21. I disagree... kind of.
yes, smart move, free publicity and all that... BUT. He is now the biggest laughing stock 2 days before Iowa. All publicity is good publicity ONLY if you have the time to spin it. I think he just neutered himself.

25. That's what he TRIED to do--it, uh, didn't work out. The story didn't
become about what a nice guy he is, or the content of the ad--the story became what a sneaky hypocritical bastard he is, and even the press has to laugh at him. Not brilliant.

27. The guy has NO MONEY. He's getting a negative ad on the air during the evening news cost free. Those
who hate him already will focus on the hypocrisy. Those who love him already won't find anything hypocritical. Those who fall in neither camp will see Huckabee's ad against Romney and -- if the ads any good -- will remember the ad more than the circumstances.

are not going to cooperate with his little scheme. I did, however, see the derisive laughter.

24. That was hillarious but I see why the Huckster pulled his ad. It wasn't for the reason he stated
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 06:19 PM by mtnsnake
After seeing the video of his ad, he really didn't have jack shit on Romney. That's why he pulled it, because his ad really sucked and wouldn't have convinced a soul.

BTW, thanks to poster #11 for providing a video link to the ad.

29. THERE'S MORE!!!
I saw him on Wolfie's show and he said, "Well, the tv stations have copies so it could be leaked and put up on u-tube."

The other day at some event (I caught the last bit) he was telling people to "shovel snow into their driveways, let the air out of their tires..."

This is the REAL Huckster! Gawd, what a creep!
