Dowd rips Hillary (and Michelle Obama) in her last pre-Iowa caucus piece

Maureen Dowd's piece is out:

Has Hillary truly changed, and grown from her mistakes? Has she learned to be less stubborn and imperious and secretive and vindictive and entitled? Or has she merely learned to mask her off-putting and self-sabotaging qualities better? If elected, would the old Hillary pop up, dragging us back to the dysfunctional Clinton kingdom? She is speaking in a soft, measured voice in these final days, so that, as with Daisy Buchanan, you have to lean in to listen. But is she really different than she was in the years when she was so careless about the people around her getting hurt by the Clinton legal whirlwind that she was dubbed the Daisy Buchanan of the boomer set?

she was less harsh on Michell Obama, but said she thinks the Obama's are "owed" someething.

Oddly, Barack and Michelle Obama also radiate a sense that they are owed. Not for a lifetime of sublimation and humiliation, but for this onerous campaign, for offering themselves up to save and uplift the nation, even though it disrupted their comfortable lives.

Michelle told Vanity Fair that Americans would have only one chance to anoint her husband, vowing “it’s now or never” and explaining “there’s an inconvenience factor there” and a “really, really hard” pressure and stress on the family that can only be justified if her husband can win the presidency and “change the world.”

16. in the past I have not been greatly involved in anything to do with internet ;community' and

as I stated awhile back I belong officially to no party, I am a true independant, albeit it seems that on national issues from congress to president that I cannot remember the last Republican that I may have supported. I have also missed only one election in 40 years(you had to be 21 when I started).

My concern this year is to do absolutely everything in my power to help defeat abslolutely every Republican I can. But MOST importantly to help in any way I can to see that the Presidency goes Democratic. The USSupCT is my overweaning priority, but their are so many, many constitutional things needing to be rectified, and in my fantasies the Bush administration is brought into the courts to face the consequences of their actions.

I worry greatly that the Democratic Party will once again self implode from internal bickering over petty or secondary issues, that it will once again be taken over by the fringe elements and thus become unelectable in the general. In short I am a seriously worried citizen, too old, too poor and too infirm to do much more than scribble on computer screens...but I will do that!

In the primaries I overwhelmingly support Joe Biden, for the simple reason that his intelligence, although matched by most of the candidates is time-tempered, and that process yields the all important wisdom. Wisdom is what is lacking in the top tier.

As for swamplands, the wilds of Galveston County in a place that used to be known mostly for its cajun shrimpers, and its 'varmints' hiding from various and sundry authoritarian figures! heh
