This part of the interview got me, too.
"I think it will be very difficult to have a real election. You know, Nawaz Sharif has said he's not going to compete. The PPP is in disarray with Benazir's assassination. He (President Pervez Musharraf) could be the only person on the ballot. I don't think that's a real election."
There was a ruling in Pakistan that it was illegal for Sharif to run and she doesn't even know that?

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Election Commission has upheld an election ban on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the commission said Tuesday, eliminating an important opposition leader from the vote.
Sharif, who was deposed by Pervez Musharraf in 1999, was banned from seeking office this month on the basis of past criminal convictions that he says were politically motivated.
The Election Commission rejected Sharif's appeal Monday, said a commission spokesman, Kanwar Dilshad. Dilshad declined to give details, but confirmed a report in the Jang newspaper on Tuesday that Sharif was out of the elections, set for Jan. 8. - International Herald Tribune
