Iowa Democrats voted in their caucuses in record numbers and an absolutely huge percentage of them did not choose Senator Clinton.

I defend the woman when the Limbaughs and Hannitys try to diss her, but she took a drubbing tonight in Iowa at the hands of our fellow Democrats.

Politics can be very fluid. She may roar right back into the lead. For now, a record number of caucus attendees in Iowa may have changed U.S. electoral history. It may be that the Clinton era is over.

It was a classic example of a value-added project. What a tremendous speech.

Tonight in Iowa over two-thirds of Iowa Democratic caucus participants rejected Sen. Clinton's candidacy for the White House.

Those are very significant numbers and not an auspicious outcome for the Clinton campaign.

For the third time, I'll assert that she is not out of the race and could roar back. But the climb now is especially steep. There'll be a significant shift, IMO, beginning right now and I don't see the Clinton campaign responding in time to reverse the trend in New Hampshire.

To consider any candidate to be merely an anti-Hillary candidate is to dismiss the dedication and intelligence of that candidate's supporters. We disagree on the results in Iowa this evening, evidently.

bringing up in the next few days -- that Clinton's third-place finish makes it less easy for her to win the nomination, that Obama and Edwards combined totaled 2/3rds of Iowa caucus participants, that there may be significant shake-ups in the Clinton campaign's head staff, that Vilsack's endorsement and the REGISTER's endorsement didn't sway enough Iowans toward her camp, that an investment of considerable money and staff didn't sway enough votes her way, and that if she wins nomination now she'll have to claw to get it from the ground up and not from the First Lady perch down.

I read DU. I know what you're talking about, but it's not new and it's not confined to Clinton. I've seen Russ Feingold blasted on these boards, and Barbara Boxer, and many others I respect.

The percentages in Iowa are good for Obama. They're not very good for Clinton. And New Hampshire is in 5 days. I think that's the frame of the picture from Iowa in coming days' analysis.

i kept saying, if the people want obama, than that is good. but i didn't realize that a good deal of it was just part of this. i was quite happy to sit back and watch our country on the mend, but it's just an ousting. doesn't look like hope to me at all. so instead of watching hope, now i get to watch a bunch of kids revel at a their new leader and tear someone down. just doesn't feel good when it's for reasons i think are so ill. i wrote a while ago that if she did lose, at least i would be happy b/c i wouldn't have to watch all the hate for the next 12 months while people tore her apart. apparently they'll do it whether she wins or loses.

No matter the tone of DU posts and threads, over 2/3rds of Iowans voted for somebody else tonight. Obama beat my guy. He beat your gal. He had a big win in Iowa this evening and is owed congratulations.

Now we'll see how things go in the Granite State.

to me, there's something "kennedy like" about obama. the first time i saw him speak was at the 2004 convention. i was very moved. i'm not young either.

bush has done so much damage to this country. i think obama, being an african american, born in kenya to a muslim father and a white mother from kansas can reach out to world leaders and repair some of the damage done in the last 7 years.

however, as i said earlier, i will support whoever the candidate is. we all have our favorites. that's why we have primaries.
