Nader asked Dean for VP slot (DailyKos)

Nader asked Dean for VP slot
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/2/25/52333/6530

"...I'm Mike Ford <...> For the last 6 months or so I was a senior advisor to Howard Dean.
Bout three months ago Ralph Nader and his entourage walked into our Vermont headquarters off the street to "dialogue".

He was quite impressive intellectually and the firmness of his vision was also impressive. At the time of the visit, Howard was still the front runner and the Nader entourage made a blatant pitch for a Nader Vice Presidential nomination.

The point of all this is to say that the only thing that impressed me more than Nader's brain was his outsized ego. Got to say, that's what seems to be the driver here and it's more about his personal agenda and, I think, about that huge ego rather than beating Bush..."

Nader: Always Ready for His Closeup

"....PLANET RALPH. His timing is exquisitely discordant. Rarely in politics do you see so much unanimity among Democrats. Liberals are strongly united behind the candidacy of ABB -- Anybody But Bush -- whether that be John Kerry or John Edwards. Even many ultraliberal purists are prepared to hold their noses and vote for a Democrat who agrees with them 95% of the time.

Yet, Nader denounces The Nation, a publication closely linked to his causes these past decades, as part of a "liberal intelligentsia" -- all because it asked him not to run again. I have to wonder what planet Ralph is inhabiting these days. ..."

1. So, what's the point?
Nader can ask, but that doesn't mean Dean was going to consider him.

3. What's the point?

Seeing as how BOTH stories center around Nader's ego being the reason for why he is running, I would like to offer you a hint:

The point is that Nader's ego is the reason why Nader is running. Believe it or not, any references to Dean are incidental to this point

4. Then you should have titled your post differenlty
Title Nader asked Dean for VP slot attempts to implicate Dean and initiate a flame fest with Dean supporters.

If your post was about Nader's ego, they you should have stated it that way, but you didn't.

6. Actually, I didn't see it at all that way.
No offense, Larkspur, but it seemed mostly just a shot at Nader for being brazen enough to approach a self-admitted centrist for a VP slot.

I'm thinking I'm missing something from your perspective?

11. That's the title of the article
That's why I put it in the subject line. I see nothing to criticize Dean for in this article, nor did I say anything critical of Dean.

At least, not in this thread. :-)

Click on the link.

It says:

Nader asked Dean for VP slot

Are you saying sangh0 is kos?

You aren't paranoid if they actually are out to get you, but is sangh0 out to get Dean and you, or Nader?

16. Funny how the only ones who think this is about Dean
are the Dean supporters. For some odd reason, everyone else realizes it's about Nader

7. Nader asked Dean for VP slot attempts to implicate Dean
No it doesn't.

Implicate Dean in what? It is "Nader asked Dean," not "Dean asked Nader."

Get over your persecution complex.

10. The point is that sang(insert vowel here) is obsessed with bashing Dean
And if he can connect Nader with Dean even peripherally, he knows it will stir up the Wafflebots long enough for them to start another 666 threads about how "evil" Nader is, and how the Deaniacs are all gonna vote for him :eyes:

9. Nader can say what he wants
Dean has already said he has encouraged ALL people to vote for a democrat this year regardless of Ralph Nader being in the race.

After 3 years of Bush we all know the stakes are TOO high to vote for a third party candidate, I doubt Nader will make nearly as much of an impact on votes as he did in 2000.
