The more time I spend on DU, the stronger I support Edwards...
(this seems to be a popular motif for a post now.)

In the time I've spent on DU and especially in GD04, I've seen how easy it is for politics to descend into nastiness, name-calling, and petty attacks. This has given me more and more respect for John Edwards, who despite everyone telling him that he has to attack, that he has to go negative, refuses to do so.

DU often shows me everything about politics that I hate. John Edwards reminds me of everything about politics that I love.

3. Well--you and I thinking he didn't attack...
isn't what the media is saying. They are starting the Dean move--get Edwards out of the race. The media is killing him today, just what they and the party wanted. Him out now! }(

9. I believe so too--just have seen the media try and derail...
JRE today. Hey, I'm with you. JRE is my candidate and I hope we can pull off Tuesday. The media just puts ideas in people's heads. Most of the time they fall for the faux media approach.

5. This would be true regardless of whom you supported
There is so much vitriol thrown at each of the candidates and the supporters of each of the candidates that it is inevitable that these intra-party wars will fortify your support for your candidate.

It really is a shame that this is the way it has been, because the eventual nominee is going to need the full support of the fractured field to beat Bush in November. And, at least in my case, I know it would be a whole lot easier for me to support Kerry at that time if his supporters would treat those of us who do not currently support him with a bit more respect.

8. William Safire was on a talk show Sunday morning...
and pompously asserted that Edwards (basically) wasn't serious because he wasn't attacking Kerry.

I certainly don't like William Safire, but I was astounded that he TOTALLY doesn't get it! Does he actually get paid for his opinions?

10. Safire doesn't get most things.
Remember when he said that Wesley Clark was a "stocking horse" for Hillary Clinton, whatever that means?
