Poll: Bush would narrowly beat Kerry in Florida

(Undated-AP) -- A new poll indicates President Bush would narrowly beat Massachusetts Senator John Kerry in Florida if the election were held today.

Bush holds a 47-42 percent edge in his re-election bid over Kerry, with a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. Ten percent of voters are undecided.

Bush does better in a race with North Carolina Senator John Edwards, leading 49 percent to 41 percent.

While a lot of people aren't sure, more people think Bush is helped rather than hurt with Ralph Nader running as an independent.

The results are from a survey of 600 likely voters by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale and the Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville.

4. Jeb was slightly ahead...
in his reelection for Governor... and he ended up "winning" by 18%.

14. Kerrys Coming
To Tampa tomorrow night for a rally at Centr Ybor. Kucinich will have at least 2 events in the Tampa area at USF and Clearwater on Wed. I think Edwards will be here this week-end, and we have a big Democratic Party gathering in downtown Tampa, at a park on Sat. March 6. Everyone will be there.

The excitement is just starting. Our presidential primary is Tuesday.

If Bush is only slightly ahead now, we're gonna start kicking his ass tomorrow evening.:spank:

5. Saw a poll for Indiana which encouraged me somewhat.

It has Bush winning 51-45 against Kerry. Kerry's losing, yes, but Indiana is a solidly Republican state in the general election (hasn't gone Dem since '64), and the Republican usually wins by big margins in a two-man race.

If Kerry is making inroads in a Republican stronghold, I'm starting to feel a bit encouraged about his chances overall.

8. You can add 7% to Bush's vote and take 7% away from Kerry's,
because of e-voting. As another poster pointed out, Jeb was only slightly ahead in 2002, but somehow won in a landslide (by 18%). They're stealing votes in Florida and getting away with it. :(

9. Well, Kerry will just have to win more states elsewhere.
This damned election better not come down to Florida again. Once through the ringer on that bullshit is enough.

10. Who cares what the damn polls say?
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 06:16 AM by Rationality
All these polls told us that Howard Dean (and before that Joe Lieberman) was unbeatable, that the Gubernatorial race in Florida would be tight, that the incumbnent GA governor would win by a landslide, etc. etc. etc.

Polls are like toilet paper. You rely on that and when the rain comes it just dissolves. Never think you're ahead, because if you do, you fall way back.

13. a good start

Judging from other primary states, it should be pretty easy to swing those numbers by 5-10 percentage points our way in the near future.

And a margin of 5% in a poll where margin of error is 4%- things could be a good bit closer. I'm pretty sure that W is a lot closer to his national average of 43%. We'll find out a bit more about that after the Florida primary.

15. Wonder if anyone is on top of the voter roll scrubbing down there?
Hopefully someone is on top of this because they are still employing illegal tactics and vote scrubbing.

18. I just registered in Florida
I moved here in October and registered as a democrat in January. When I called to make sure they got my registration app, the woman told me they had been receiving so many democratic registrations she'd have to look for mine and then call me back. That's encouraging to know. I don't think the polls reflect this.
