I support Edwards--but I love DK's ideas....
I pray, to the high heavens, that Edwards will pull of the upsets of all upsets. And if so, I hope that there are 2 golden chairs waiting in the Cabinet room come January.

1-Howard Dean (if he isn't the VP)
2-Dennis Kucinich (Sec. of Labor, or Education, Treasury).

1. Same here...
...although, most people like Dennis Kucinich's ideas, althought they know they are impossible to implement.

2. in all fairness to Mr. Kucinich...
he's part of the House. The framer's intended the House of representatives to reach for the stars, in trying to please & speak for, their individual constituents. They also intended the Sentae to debate, debate, debate, and move at the now infamous, laborious pace we have grown to loathe...err... I mean love...!

So in fairness to the Honarbale Dennis Kucinich, he is doing exactly what he should be doing in his job. But there's a reason why no Congressman since Pres. Lincoln moved from House-White House, without passing go...they want to to do too muchm too fast.

But, like I said...his ideas are great. People just feel safer standing behind a Senator.

I feel great standing behind mine!! (Edwards, that is..)

4. We NEED "too much too fast" to survive.
That's the problem.

Living in denial about "free" trade/globalism and Peak Oil will ensure our demise as a country.

5. People are falling into the psychological trap of
"Well, I think these are great ideas, but I'm sure nobody else does, so I won't even try to get them implemented."

If everyone throughout history had thought that way, we'd still be a British colony with slavery and no rights for women.

7. I'm not falling into a psychological trap of anything other than...
...REALITY.

You can't just cancel this, and that, and this and that.

IT IS NOT HUMANLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IT, but you won't be able to politically and globally do it.

You can't just jump up and do something spontaneously!

If Dennis Kucinich just canceled things like NAFTA AND THE WTO, forget the department of peace. We would be in a war when the other countries in the world came after us!

You have to systemmatically work to improve the situation, as Edwards and Mr. Skull and Bones each discuss.

So, yes, it may not be IMPOSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO JUST SIGN A CANCELLATION OF NAFTA AND THE WTO, and others, but realistically, it is impossible...

13. i agree with you
I love kucinich..and i also think that dems are being too centrist and thereby losing progressives to third parties and i dont really believe that we are attracting centrists anyway

6. Think your vote for dennis kucinich won’t count? Think again.
Dennis Kucinich can have influence in the Democratic Party... we just need to get behind him and have courage to vote for him!!!
It could easily end up a brokered convention....

Peace
Caeli
How to vote strategically
Think your vote for dennis kucinich won’t count?
Think again.
Here’s why:
ü ! Candidates who turn out 15% of the votes in a given congressional district get delegates.
ü ! Delegates committed to a given candidate go to the national convention in boston (july)
ü ! Delegates determine the platform, and select the democratic presidential nominee
ü ! If not now—when? If not you—who?
Are your hopes and dreams electable? …you bet!
But— only if you vote for them.
Consider how much may change between now and the convention this summer.
ü How many more americans will be unemployed?
ü How many more soldiers will die in iraq?
ü How much dirt will karl rove and the gop uncover or spill on the front runners?
ü How many delegates will find the courage to vote for change they want in america?
Your vote. Your voice. Your country. Don’t be silenced!
Do you have the courage of your convictions?
Dennis does.

10. I don't think it's my imagination that we're seeing more
Kucinich supporters on this board in the last few days.

One terrific effect of a good showing in Minnesota will be that it will be a slap in the face to Bush/Cheney, who are crowing about how they're going to win the state in November.

11. By cutting the Pentagon budget 15%
(he's on the House appropriations committee, so he knows what their budget is and how much has been "lost" through mismanagement and possibly embezzlement and black ops in the past twenty years) and by rescinding the tax cuts for the wealthiest people.

Fifteen percent of the Pentagon budget is hundreds of billions of dollars, and we'd still have a larger military than the next half dozen or so countries combined.

12. Check his site. It's very SPECIFIC....
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 12:44 PM by revcarol
As opposed to the information of the "electables, " it's OUTSTANDING.

Dennis is so far from being one of those dreamers the media portrays him as. He knows: WHAT GOOD IS PROPOSING A PROGRAM IF THE COUNTRY CAN'T PAY FOR IT??

Reducing the bloated defense budget by 15% and getting out of Iraq as soon as the U. N. can come in will save us $$BILLIONS, too.

15. He's nothing if not detail-oriented
If you check his site you'll find most of his proposals include explanations of how they'd be funded.

I think it comes from his background of managing different aspects of elected offices. He's thorough and thoughtful.

18. I do need to put in a plug for "Real Solutions"..though..
b/c it is John Edwards, not Sen. Kerry, who first adopted this phrase (i.e., Kerry "borrowed" the phrase as his own in describing his plans for the U.S during the LATimes debate, last week).
