A call to Dean-supporters.....

Although Dr. Dean has more time in elected politics as Gov. of Vermont, he was clearly a DC outsider (minus the forums Governors hold in DC every year or so..).
As far as a candidate who had successful professional, private-practice experience, and who then went into politics to make a difference--John Edwards is similar to Dr, Dean.
As far as being a candidate who believes our economic state, our jobless-rate, and enriching the well-being of millions of Americans who live in poverty--John Edwards is similar to Dr. Dean.

It is true that John Edwards voted for the Patriot act (as almost every Senator did), and the IWR. But unlike Joh Kerry, Sen. Edwards did NOT vote the 2nd time through, to give GW a blank check for additional billions to be spent w/o justification or much checks and balances.

The bottom line is that John Edwards is a Senator, and has ample knowledge of how to work inside Washington. But he is NOT a good-ol' boy, 20 year+ Senator, who has spent more time than many voters have been alive, "hurumph-hurumph-ing" on the floor of the Senate.

John Edwards has been out in the real world, fighting (on a contigency-fee-basis, ) for regular folks who were severely wronged by HMO's and other large corporate machines.
He took on these "impossible" cases--and won!!
He will be a VERY strong candidate to beat Pres. Bush in Nov. --and he offers real, granted not overly-liberal, but real change to the culture of the White House.

I hope never to vote for Edwards unless I absolutely have to. I'm a Dean supporter because of his frank opposition to all things Bush. Edwards is too much of a collaborator for my taste.

but, I had already the opportunity to vote for Dean in Wisconsin, which was a wonderful experience--and happy to say my Isthmus neighborhood in Madison also gave most of their votes to the Doctor.

But I see that some of my brothers and sisters who supported Dean have gone to Edwards and I certainly would have a easier time voting for him in November than for Kerry.

Most of the Dean group I know will vote Dean. Some, myself included, will be voting Kucinich. There are still pockets of Clark support too.

Edwards didn't get endorsed by Dean. That being said, Edwards is an awsome American. I would be glad to call him President.

Maurice Hinchey endorsed Dean, and we had an awsome effort in his NYS CD #22 to get Dean on the ballot.

Kerry got Hinchey's endorsement, along with all the teacher union and seiu1199.

I think both Edwards and Kerry will be eaten alive by Bush simply because on three of the the biggest issues (the war, civil liberties abuses and education) they supported Bush's positions.

Kerry did more than harumph during his time in the Senate - in fact, he investigated and exposed more government corruption during his time there than ANY lawmaker in modern history. BCCI. IranContra, and CIA drugrunning - those ring a bell?

I'd like to hear jmoss explain how they came to the conclusion that all Kerry did was "harumph" in the Senate.
