Kerry, Bush, and Peter Jackson
http://wowktv.com/news/index.cfm?newsItemID=750

At a rally at Ohio State University, Kerry vowed to offer a real choice in his campaign against Bush.

Kerry also made use of Sunday's Oscar ceremonies. He noted that Peter Jackson, the winning director of "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," used 25,000 extras. He joked that's more jobs than President Bush has created, so the director should get more than just an Oscar.

(snip)

Peter Jackson for VP? :)

1. Not that I have anything against Kiwis
But Peter Jackson's extras were all employed in NZ. Good for them, good for NZ, good for my cinematic tastes, but not beneficial to the US (except to theater owners and the distribution co.)

5. IIRC, they all volunteered. Not likely that Jackson was able to
get 25000 extras paid for the work.

I remember also that the attached documentary said that a lot of horsemen just started showing up, a lot more than they expected.

Just to be in the film.

If I was in NZ, I would have too. Just to say "You see that speck that's hanging off the wall of the catle in that huge army scene? The hand holding the guy's foot was mine!"

3. Its been
a seven year process and every photo I've seen show him looking like that - his friends and the people that count haven't minded, why should you?

4. As Billy Crystal noted
At least Peter was wearing shoes, usually he's barefoot. He gussies up about as well as I do. :)
