Is the Media your enemy?
Of course it is. Want to do something about it? Think voting for Kerry or Edwards will put the corporate media in its place? Think again. We cant get anything done until the media is reformed. You only have one way of getting there from here, Democratic America.
Vote Dennis Kucinich while you still have a chance!

14. I guess your humor is lost on me
I see nothing funny about the looting of our hopes and dreams.

4. Does anyone consider them to be a friend?
Certainly many watch cable news agog, like a snake that bites them over and over, but they just cant get enough of it.

7. *sigh*
I'm afraid I've come 'round to believing the worst is true: until they suffer personally they won't (see IGMFU). :(

8. The media does the physically impossible
It both sucks and blows at the same time.

I always knew the media wasn't telling the whole story, but the last 18 months have dotted the "i" and crossed the "t" for me.

Its shoddy reporting leading up to Iraq, its blackout of DK and his message, and its attempted crucifixion of Dean has done it for me.

But I'll NEVER give up hope!

:hi:

12. Just be sure to base that hope on structural change...
until then, there's plenty of good independent media that can be trusted.

10. our only hope
True campaign finance reform (getting $$'s out of politics) and breaking up the media monopolies would be a start to fixing this problem. The other important thing we need to do is get most Americans - including a lot of people here - to face reality and stop being in denial about the corporate media disinformation.

11. the other important thing has to be done first, breaking the hold
no question about it. What we need to do is brainstorm the shortest most effective way of getting it done. The immediate Haiti AP experience is so textbook. They are the MIIC's mightiest weapon.

13. It's astonishing to see so many supposedly intelligent people...
take the side of big media and lend it ANY credibility.

Corporate Media = 0 Credibility

15. Kucinich will not change it.
He TALKS like he will, but I have no confidence that he can accomplish anything. Even if some miracle whisks him into office, I don't think that he'd get anything done. Kerry and Edwards, on the other hand, will.

17. And you're basing this on.... ?
Kerry's principled fight to raise awareness of BBV issues, maybe?

Edwards' ability to be on both sides of the trade issue at once?

19. Because the media will not tolerate him.
They do not suffer upstarts. They did it with Dean, they could do it with Kucinich. It is foolish to take them head-on.

16. uh ... that's why I'm voting for Dean today
Dean's the only one who said the truth about the media.

He got butchered for it.

I'm voting for him anyway, it's the least I can do. Maybe he'll get enough delegates (I'm in California, the big kahuna of delegates) that he can get something decent on the platform re: the media
