I won't lie--my dream for SC is a totally improbable Edwards victory
It's not going to happen, but I would be ecstatic if it did. I don't particularly like or trust any of the major candidates for this cycle. To some extent, all of their records are less progressive than I'd like, and all of their respective rhetoric is less honest than I'd like. Yet I've always longed for a major presidential candidate to emphatically and directly confront the problem of economic disparity, the widening rich-poor gap, and corporate influence on government. At long last there is a candidate who does so. Does his rhetoric match his record? His investments? His house? His hair? These questions are ordered from most relevant to least (the latter two being ridiculously superficial and worthless), but there does exist some distance between his actions and his rhetoric.

The problem is, that's true of all the candidates. And if I had to choose between false tunes, I'll take the one I'd like to dance to. If Edwards does pull a miracle in SC or otherwise becomes more competitive, I'll change my caucus vote in February from Kucinich to Edwards. So many DUers have asked for someone, -anyone- with major-candidate capability to battle the cancer on our government that results from corrupting corporate influence and the injustice of an expanding rich-poor gap, and Edwards is the only one speaking to that. I want America to hear this message as often as possible, even if the messenger isn't exactly perfect.

1. nothing wrong with having a dream
and you're not confusing it with the likely reality. Edwards is posed to do very well in SC, even if he probably won't win.

2. Obama has a great opportunity with his presumptive victory speech

If it strikes the right tone--he has the ability to reach it--it will do more than many millions of dollars in advertisements for him.

4. Hey, that's a great line...
"And if I had to choose between false tunes, I'll take the one I'd like to dance to."

I'm with you...we can certainly dream, knowing that stranger things have happened. ;) Look at the shift in the landscape since the debate.

7. It's likely to normalize without another big moment from Edwards
Or a lot more nasty bickering between Hillary and Obama. But we'll see.
