Voted for Kerry..but there were no delegates
I don't know much..anything..about primaries. I usually just wait for the GE and vote Democrat. In fact I was registered independent most of my life until recently. So, we went and voted for Kerry, but there were no delegates next to his name. None for Al Sharpton either. I wasn't prepared for that one. I voted for Wesley Clark's delegates, just because he'd been my first choice, but it seems unlikely he'll win enough of the vote to send delegates since he not actually running. Then I got an e-mail saying that Kerry had not qualified a slate of delegates in one third of the state. What's up with that?

1. no delegates here, either
in Tompkins County.

I think the deadline for filing as a delegate was long ago, at a time when Kerry looked hopelesss....

I voted for Kucinich anyway, though I have no problem with Kerry as the final nominee.

2. Not a full slate here either
Kerry doesn't have a full slate in many districts in Ohio either. In fact, in my district a full slate is 5 delegates and an alternate, but I'm the only delegate at this point. However, it's not a big deal. I'm sure all the states have a different method of filling the slate, but in Ohio we will have a post-primary caucus in April.

Here, we had a caucus to determine candidates' delegates in mid-Jan. and you had to send in your request to be nominated by Jan. 1. At that point Kerry had very little support, so there were empty slots. I'd encourage any Kerry supporter to find out if your district has a full slate, and if not, run for the slot. Personally, I'm looking forward to Boston. :)
