1. Yes! I agree with you. Also, fire from Congress all Dems that don't think this way!
And don't vote for Dem nominees that don't think this way either.

5. I agree, but keep the priorities straight
1st, let's get enough Republicans out of office to get a solid working majority

2nd, then let's purge (in a democratic fashion) the DINOs from congress.

8. We start with the primaries, though
If it is an open seat, or a seat we are bound to pick up, and there are two Democrats who want to run, choose and support the Dem who is progressive and willing to stand up and fight for us!

Next, in the GE, look at your Congressional/Senate races. Are they going to be close? Then tell us here at DU about them, and who needs support and how to send them money. If your races aren't going to be close (like safe seats), then choose one of the Dems other DUers have written about and support them.

12. Here's what you do...
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 08:44 PM by OmahaBlueDog
1. You build a solid working majority (which we don't have now); we continue to hold that through '10 when the census is taken and then we can redistrict the seats gerrymandered away from us in '92

2. Once you have a larger majority, it's easier for the House and Senate whips to bring the DINOs in line by threatening them with withdrawn campaign support. You'll find that solves a lot of the misbehavior straightaway. Those who don't get on board, we replace.

3. Someone else posted that if it's a safe seat, and you have someone who has voted for -- say support of the war -- then vote for the primary opponent; I have no objection to that. However, our main focus has to be to take as many seats out of GOP hands as possible. Doing that will hasten the end to the war and allow for the Bush Tax cuts to be rebalanced to favor the working poor and middle class.

13. (sigh) I have to admit you're right, but these people really piss me off.
And why are they giving Bush what he wants? What's in it for them, anyway? Corporate money?

14. We should be pissed off..
Some are looking for corporate money; some are blues in red states who have to do a balancing act to stay in power (think Ben Nelson), some support the war for fear of being smeared.

All I'm saying is that the battles have to be fought in the right order.

4. Bingo. This election is not just about the presidency.
This election is about picking up seats at all levels of government, just like in '06.

The new Democratic president needs a more solidly-Democratic Congress if we're going to push for a more progressive agenda.

7. Ding! Ding! Ding!
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

Amen to a vetoproof, fillibuster proof, majority and a Democratic president.
