“No Democratic Presidential Candidate Has Campaigned in Kansas Since 1960″

That may be about to change on Tuesday, according to the Wichita Eagle.

Think about the timing, for a sec.

On Monday night, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will deliver, on national television, the Democratic response to President George W. Bush’s final State of the Union address. She will likely impress (that’s an understatement).

(Thank Dean and Pelosi, but not necessarily Reid, by the way.)

On the next day, Barack Obama arrives in the home town of his mother and grandmother; Wichita. (Kansas will hold caucuses on Tsunami Tuesday, with 32 delegates at stake.)

Coincidence?

Think their paths - those of Obama and Sebelius - might cross?

Signs of a national ticket to come?

And, really, not since JFK has a Democratic presidential candidate campaigned in Kansas?

Do you see, kind reader, how the matter of rural votes is taking form in 2008?

1. I hope they show up in Kansas this time. Gov. Sebelius is a wonder.
I liked her old man, too.

3. Is she one of the anti-fundy, former Republican Democrats?
I'm not dissing her if she is, I think it's great what's happening in Kansas. Kansas Republican voters really should be Democrats (at least most that I knew when I lived there), they just didn't know it because Republicans have been all they've known for so long. It took an attempted fundy takeover of their party to open their eyes.

6. She is the daughter of former Ohio Governor, Democrat John Gilligan.
And she is strictly top-drawer.

2. i've been watching some videos of her on youtube
I think she could attract all the people who want a woman in the white house, but aren't too keen on Hillary. I don't see any reason why she shouldn't be the VP pick for Obama.
