Poll question: Does anyone else think we can put 'ABB' on the shelf now?
ABB was, for me, a placeholder until the nominee got nailed down. That has, barring freakishness, happened. 'ABB' is now Kerry.

So...can we call ABB dead now? It worked as a now-not-needed bookmark for people like me, and really pissed some people off.

14. Strange geography...
...someone from Indiana as part of a "Western strategy"...? Is this 2004...or 1804?

:wtf:

(I would think a "Western strategy" would require someone from the Rocky Mountain states at least.)

8. I'm not sure
Part of me agrees with you that now that we have a nominee we can put ABB away.

But part of me would really miss ABB. And it's probably still easier for some of the supporters of the candidates that have dropped out to deal with ABB at this point. Maybe we could slowly wean peple from ABB to Kerry. :-)

and lets move on. We have lots of work ahead of us. Maybe we can replace it with KNB (Kerry not Bush).

No offense meant to any of the great candidates we had to chose from.

p.s.- If it's all the same to you folks though, I'm gonna hang onto my Dean icon. Still kinda sentimental, although I am (now) fully behind Kerry.

19. ABB Is History.
It's time to put our money where our mouths are.

If you're a dyed-in-the-wool hardcore Democrat, you're behind the Nominee Apparent, regardless of the unpleasant taste it may leave in your mouth.

Hey, I'm not ecstatic about the results, but the Democratic Voters chose Kerry, and I respect them.

Fight ON,
Jennifer

20. No, there are still third party candidates.
There are still people who will love to make their vote commit suicide for some well-intentioned cause. They must realize the cost, and that if they don't like Bush, they are voting for Bush.

ABB 1st.

21. ABB was for until the nominee got nailed down?
So that's where all the "I'm ABB, vote for my guy since he's the only one who can beat Bush" sentiment came from! Wow, if I'd only known that it was a "primary only" thing I wouldn't have expended so much effort telling people I would vote for the eventual nominee, and that's what makes me ABB...

For me ABB was "no matter what candidate gets nominated, we'll vote for him."

ABB IS JUST GETTING STARTED HERE. ABB had no place in the primaries since it was used so profusely to get others to vote for their candidate (and bash people, because they still believed in their candidate). Really, ABB is simply so out of place in the nomination process!

Wow, I've never seen the concept of ABB so twisted before.

35. Agree completely
I don't dislike Kerry, but he's not my first choice. That makes him my ABB by default.

But more importantly: There are moderate Republicans and conservative Democrats who will never vote FOR John Kerry--he's too liberal. There are Greens, ex-Nadarites, and some liberal Dems who wil never vote FOR Kerry--he's too conservative.

But they can be convinced to vote AGAINST Bush, regardless of what they think of Kerry.

The primaries (and my caucus is still ahead) are the time to vote your conscience, to support your candidate.

Now is precisely the time to push ABB.

22. NO! Absolutely not
The main concern of this election is removing the BushCo minions from the levers of power. People who disagree with ABB seem to have no grasp of what this is all about.

It is nice that the primaries are over, and that we have a candidate in our major opposition party BUT the goal is NOT electing John Kerry. It is removing the current occupant from the White House.

If this was just a regular election, at this point I would be saying my candidate lost so screw the campaign. We cannot do that this year. The stakes are too high for the future of our nation and the world.

So, for me and lots of other people, this election is all about ABB and will remain so until this whole pack of ideological fanatics are out looking for new jobs.

We still need to allow those who would vote for a ham sandwich, a llama, an oboe, or a pile of sawdust before Dumbya to express those sincere feelings.

32. Yep, Kerry is the candidate now. ABB minimizes our candidate.
We can not do that. Kerry has to be promoted on his own merits in a positive way if we are going to win.

I told you at the start of the primaries, that I would work for my candidate, but once we had a nominee we would be working together regardles of the name.

Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.

It's time for everyone to stop the whining and gloating. I've had all of the divisive bullshit I can stomach. There is a long road ahead of us.
