Bush running scared - Dynasty crumbling
Why Bush has been making so many blunders lately and even republicans are grumbling he doesn't have his game face on. It's because he sees the signs of defeat staring him squarely in the eye and he knows that this might be the end of any Bush dynasty envisioned by his family. No more Bush's at the top level of power, this is scaring him to pieces.

Why? His performance as president has been so abysmal that it reminds one of Herbert Hoover. When was the last time you heard of a Hoover in power?

The American people will want nothing to do with Bush's as political figures anymore after this reign by Bush, Jr.

I think Bush senior must be upset and I can't blame him.

1. Actually, I think he's freaked about not beating poppy!
A second term would put poppy in his place!

3. They are so desperate they are being short sighted.
They are going for the moment and it is destroying them. The more they try to gain the offensive, the more they shoot themselves in the foot.

8. I resist Hoover-Bush comparisons
Although Hoover was wrong with his policies, and ineffective and weak as president, he was undeniably a moral and intelligent person. This was the man who fed Europe after WW1. FDR himself felt Hoover was a remarkable man for his humanitarian efforts. He also co-authored, with his wife Lou, a definitive translation of a classic work of engineeering. Could you IMAGINE Incurious George and Laura Stepford doing something even remotely similar?

Hoover's weakness was letting his ideology trump his conscience. If he had shown the same dedication to feeding the hungry and helping the poor as president (the root of this ideology is not wanting to be 'unconstitutional') as he did being in charge of post-WW1 relief efforts, things would have been different indeed. The Bonus Army, the Great Crash, and the ensuing Depression were still not enough for his ideological constraints, and ultimately he does deserve scorn as a weak president. But unlike Bush, he had a brain, and great potential, albeit unfulfilled. Bush would never say what Hoover once did, "Capitalism would be great if it weren't for the capitalists".
