Kerry was right , time to get over it
Kerry was right as usual when he said get over it in reference to the 2000 election. It's time to stop crying in the teacups and look forward to new challenges, such as beating Bush!

No more need for moping, this is the start of a new dawn in America brought to you by John Kerry.

What is grousing and pessimism going to accomplish anyway. Time for a celebration and great fanfare as Kerry starts to make his victorious run for the White House.

John Kerry for president "Because America's best days are still to come"

1. Kerry's gonna wish
he hadn't "gotten over it" when bush manipulates the voting machines and cheats Kerry out of the victory. Good to know we have yet another guy running who isn't going to stand up to cheating in the most important institution in the country, voting.

3. Agreed.
That remark is what drove me from him to Dean.

I am back in the Kerry camp, now. But I am never getting "over" it.

4. I've often wondered why folks think that I have to get over something?
Why? It shouldn't bother Kerry, you, or anyone that I carry around a bitterness about election 2000 that will never go away. That bitterness keeps me alert, and suspicious of all things Republican and it will help me be on guard for election 2004. If I were to forget about it and er...let it go then I wouldn't be as mentally tough to take on the repuke crooks.

I'll never forget...It's part of my MOJO!

15. I feel like 2000 seeped into my very essence
and changed my chemical make-up. It work me up. I am a completely different person than I was pre-December 2000. I will never go back to being semi-trusting, semi-complacent, all the while thinking I was sort of "up" on events.

The anger I felt upon learning of the voter purge -- and the media's cover-up of it -- has never lessened. It has only grown as I observe the Bush administration's cynical rape and pillage of our country and the world.

8. I don't know anyone who is "crying" in their "teacups"
I know a lot of people who rightly remember what happened in 2000 and are motivated not to let it happen again.

Those who forget the past, after all, are doomed to repeat it.

13. I do know that
if this the condescending attitude I can expect from Kerry and/or his supporters, I am going to have a problem with him/them.

I am *only* supporting Kerry because I have no choice. I wish him well and hope he will remember what the Dems *used* to stand for and move back toward us.

Sad to say, Michael Moore was mostly right when he said the last truly liberal president we had was Richard Nixon. (I think Carter was, but he didn't get a chance).

5. Sure, that's the right image.
But you can bet that the Kerry camp will be keeping a close look out for signs of misdeeds. He's no dummy.

6. Positive images win elections.
Kerry is taking the right approach. Walk softly and carry a big stick = Talk happy and keep a close eye on the potential for voter fraud.

Meanwhile, W has already gone negative, and we see how much good that did him this week.

7. I wonder whether, in 2008, Democrats
will be told to "get over" 2004. And how many will.

Only when Americans stop getting over everything, I'll believe there's a new dawn. Not before.

10. no he was wrong
because if Mr. Fighter had been a fighter then and during the past 3 friggin years, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Past is prologue and he better damn well start some serious fighting. Right now he's all about reacting! Blah, blah blah, read my position papers ...

The grousing and pessimism is born out of fear of a 2000 replay since so many GOPers and Wimpocrats wanted us to get over it. Well, I for one will never get the $%&* over it, and it's exactly such garbage that has made my DNC-Kerry support less than lukewarm.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll vote ABB. But quit telling me to get over a travesty that has given us Ashcroft, Iraq, death and debt.

17. Wrong, we'd be in the exact same position we are today, and he'd
be considered politically impotent for having fought the issues and lost. His singular votes on anything could not have changed the outcomes.

And as far as crying about the stolen election 2000, he IS right. There is nothing to gain or productive by whining over something that cannot be changed now. We get EVEN instead, but throwing the asshole out in 2004.

Otherwise, what can we possibly do about the 2000 election to change that?? Rush the Supreme Court?? Riot the White House and get our asses shot off? Complain to .... um ... who?? It's done. It's over. It was wrong. There is nothing we can do about it. Time to get over it. Not forget it - just get over it - and move on to more productive things.

11. Your post = typical of the cowardly Democrat, ignoring crimes against
our republic. This kind of fatuous happy talk is precisely what permits the rightwing to get away with their outrages. They commit enormous crimes; the Democrats lie on their backs accepting it all; then finally, when someone finally gets up the nerve to protest, people like you come along to tell them they're "crying in their teacups" and "being too negative."

The Democratic Party is the party of cowards. They'd rather be raped quietly than protest the raping. Don't you know? If you protest being raped, you're "just being negative."

16. how should the non-cowardly Democrats
react to the 5-4 decision? Surround the Supreme Court Building with tanks? Make pouty faces until they lose an election for real?

12. Forget...
Tell you what... John Kerry and anyone who agrees with Kerry on this issue?

YOU get over it! Forget about those of us who won't.

YOU act as if it doesn't matter, and forget about those of us that think that it does matter.

YOU keep looking to the future without remembering the past. Forget about us who see the future and the past as part of the whole of our experience.

YOU follow that path, and YOU will be condemned to repeat those same mistakes.

And if that day comes, forget about coming to those of us who you thought were just "crying in our teacups."

We'll be too busy trying to get over it.

14. If he wants to 'get over' 2000, he's just lost 2004
Diebold machines in Volusia County casr NEGATIVE 16000 votes for Gore just before the election was called for Bush. If Kerry doesn't give a flying fuck about voting machines that have the capacity to cast negative votes (about as useful as voting pi or the square root of two), and is not really willing to make this an election issue, he's toast right now.
