Could Nader actually help the Dems?
2004 is not 2000 by any stretch... What if Naders message was economic populism of saving American Jobs and bringing down the deficit as his biggest priorities. Hardly unimaginable.

But I wonder if that attracts Fiscal conservatives even more than it might attract the Greenies.

Run to Bush's right on the deficit and he might pull non fundies GOPers from Bush moreso than economica ppulist for Kerry,

I am not endoring the notion....Just wonder if the assumption that he would pull more from Kerry is a bit premature.
For instant Blue COllar Ohioans who would never vote for Kerry,,,but are upset with Bush on the Deficit and Iraq.

2. It depends on who he attacks
If he attacks only Bush, it might help Democrats, but I have little confidence in anything Ralph Nader says or does. The Ralph Nader we all knew and respected died in the 1980's.

6. Different poll
Actually the new poll out today is the first time Kerry has been this close to Bush in this poll.

Also remember, polls mean nothing. Less then a week before Iowa polls said it would be a Dean v Gep fight. Boy were they wrong.

7. Looks to me like Bush is -6% and Nader is +6%
While Kerry has jumped about 8% and non declared has droped from 10% down to 3%

Ergo.... Nader has taken more votes from Bush then he has from Kerry

5. The horse race poll is completely bogus
First of all it is way to early to be meaningful.
secondly if is 51 seperate elections not one. Nader still has to get on the ballot as an independed and the bouy doe not have the money to do that.....I am not worried.
Third,, I suspect that 1/2 of that 6 percent are like people who wanted Kucinich or Howard Dean.

Nader will not get more than 2% as a writein and if attacke bush Hard on the Deficit, as should Kerry, I think he is as likely to get Rrepukes as he is to get fairweather Dems.

8. he has pledged privately to not criicize the dem nominee
while he blasts bush relentlessly daily. look at his recent texas tour. honestly, i don't think ralph is seriously concerned w/ even getting on the ballot. he just wants a bully pulpit to go after dumbya.

btw, believe -or not believe it if you want, but my sources tell me he'll probably throw in w/ the democrats as the year goes on

11. Nader is offal. His legacy is destroyed.
The fates I wish on him are as unkind as the horrors his candidacy propagates.

12. I'm thinking Ralphie is going to hurt Bush myself.
A lot of Republicans are fed up with Bush but they don't want to vote for a Democrat. Ralph as an Independent might take those votes.

15. Taking Votes From Republicans
Nader talks in generalities about taking votes from Republicans. I'd like to see him nail down his argument with some specifics. Can he point to some vulnerability that Bush has among Republicans?
