Question for Dean supporters ( about meet-up)
I have seen a few threads in past couple days with headlines saying they went to a meet-up for Dean.

I am curious that these are still going on. What do people talk about? Is it about how Dean might help Kerry in the general election or is it people who think Dean might still have a chance to win or what?

Also, will these Dean meet-ups go on indefinitely past the election of 2005? It just seems a little strange to me.

2. We still believe in the man and his push to change America
and we will work as small groups allied with his new org to work for change in America. You people just don't seam to get it. It's more than a presidential campaign it's a movement to bring back the democratic wing of the Democratic party and start building grassroots campaigns to elect progressive candidates. Were not finished we have just started.

4. Long term goal: A progressive alternative to the DLC
The schism between antiwar progressives and the prowar DLC is deep and permanent. The long term goal is to establish a progressive alternative to the DLC.

This goal goes beyond the November elections for the issues are going to remain with us even if Kerry is elected President.

The name and night of the week may change. At ours this week, we had great attendance. We worked on the campaign organizing of one of our group who is opposing the GOP incumbent here. This is one of the goals.
Here is the outline of what the plan will be, not specific yet.

Democracy, Freedom, and Action
The following is excerpted from Governor Howard Dean's remarks in New Haven, CT:

"On March 18, I will announce our plans to build a new organization, using our nationwide grassroots network, to continue our work to transform the Democratic Party and to change America.

"We are determined to keep this organization as vibrant as it was throughout our campaign.

"There are a lot of ways to make change. We are leaving one track, but we are going on another track that will take back America for ordinary people again.

"Democracy, Freedom, and Action will be the watchwords of this new effort.

"Our new effort will change America by working for the following principles:

We will promote grassroots democracy and bring new people into politics.
We will support candidates and office-holders who tell the truth; stand up for what they believe; and oppose the radical agenda of the far right.
We will fight against the special interests.
And we will fight for progressive policies like:

Health care for all.
Investment in children.
Equal rights under the law.
Fiscal responsibility; and
A national security policy that makes America stronger by working with allies and advancing progressive American values.

"We want everyone involved in Dean for America to stay involved, stay together, stay with the Democratic Party, and support the Democratic nominee. As I have said before, I strongly urge my supporters not to be tempted by independent or third-party candidates."Let me tell you how I think the Democratic Party can win in 2004.

"This year, our campaign made the case that, in order to defeat George W. Bush, the Democratic Party must stand up strong for its principles, not paper over its differences with the most radical Administration in our lifetime.

"In order to win, the Democratic Party must aggressively expose the ways in which George W. Bush’s policies benefit the privileged and the most extreme ideologues.

"I will do everything I can to ensure that the 2004 Democratic nominee runs as a true progressive, as a champion of working Americans and their hopes for a better future. Because –- I will say it again -- that is the way to win in 2004."

Roy Neel is still involved, Zephyr, and many others. Not sure of the connection of Trippi's new blogger's site. Some question there. They share a mutual respect, though, and most likely Trippi's bloggers will connect in some way.

and how to channel our energies from here on out... things like helping local candidates, and shows of unity and visibility as a party. Several of us are also going to the anti-war rally in Crawford, so that was discussed too. After Dean makes his announcement on March 18th about the future of the organization, it may take a new direction based on what the specifics are.
