Original Kerry supporters- got a question

Kucinich supporter here, now also of course trying to do everything I can to get Kerry in the White House...

I was wondering what is Kerry going to do to help win the War on Terror...I've defended him against attacks from the ultra-right and done pretty well for now knowing too much about him...but this issue always comes up...they think he'll abandon the war on terror...

So I went to his website and found some excellent info on the Homeland Security plans of Kerry which enthused my greatly but didnt talk about how he would combat terror overseas...

Maybe I missed something though.....could somebody who is more educated on this issue help me out?

1. This is the issue Bush does NOT want to debate with Kerry.

In 1997 a book came out called The New War. It alerted to terrorism and its funding by international governments. The author's name is John Kerry.

9-11 proved that George Bush never took the time to read that book.

Actually, I would say that the solutions offered in this book-treating terrorism as a criminal/law enforcement matter-is pretty much what we did prior to 9/11, and that it did not work.

3. Kerry will smooth over

the relations Bush has destroyed internationally by winning back foreign cooperation. Then he will have a true coalition, like we had before the Iraq invasion, to hunt down terrorists worldwide. Right now Bush is ineffective because no one wants to cooperate with him. The recent Pakistan involvement in sending nuke technology to Iran, Libya, etc under Bushes watch attests to that.

That's what that was about, in part. The CIA needed to be reformed in order to deal with terrorism, but bureaucracies are least able to reform themselves. A bureaucracy with a secret budget is even less able to reform itself. He's been fighting against all the high tech gadgets and for more human intelligence for a very long time. He's also been on the Intelligence Committee and other similar Committees for a long time. He wrote some of the banking laws to intercept terrorist funding. He knows exactly what needs to be done. Probably better than most because he's been investigating illegal drug, guns and terrorist funding since his Iran/Contra - BCCI days. BCCI had a subsidiary bank that funded Iraq's illegal weapons back in the 80's. That investigation went into the early 90's and shortly after that we had Somalia. It's all connected.

6. I hope we redefine what a terrorist is.

A terrorist is a criminal. We should treat it as such. The army of terrorists are probably a few hundred people with passports, the rest are poor uneducated ME's who've been duped into following a few charismatic leaders.

Hopefully Kerry will redefine the whole "War on Terror" and tailor our actions to reflect. We don't and can't effectively meet the challenge with a $400BB plus Defense Budget designed to fight nation-state wars and fend off ICBM threats. 9/11 should have taught us that lesson. The WOT requires real international cooperation and no hidden agenda to acquire oil, bases, or business contracts for your Party hacks.

The WOT is like the "War on Drugs"....it makes a great marketing phrase that makes lots of money for the politically connected and ends up making the problem worse.

I hope the first act of Kerry's term will declare the War on Terror won....and then we can get on with the real business of tracking down and arresting ciminals that terrorize.
