This Saturday is the annual Gridiron Dinner in D.C., and as usual, it's sounding pretty crazy: Robert Novak will go on the stage dressed up as retired diplomat Joseph Wilson, the outraged husband of a CIA agent whose identity as a deep-cover spy had been revealed by a certain syndicated columnist.
Novak will perform before Vice President Cheney, the actual Joe Wilson, and some 500 other guests at the annual white-tie Gridiron Dinner at the Capitol Hilton.
Diaries :: susan's diary :: Trackback at dailykos.com Novak (aka Joe Wilson) will sing of his sad plight to the tune of "Once I Had a Secret Love." The lyrics begin: "Novak had a secret source/who lived within the great White House/and one day his secret source/told him of my beloved spouse. . ."
The Gridiron dinner is private, so we won't see any footage of this. But some other insiders, including Gridiron President Al Hunt of The Wall Street Journal, confidently predict that the Novak-Wilson number will prove to be a showstopper.
Earlier in the day, Howard Dean will deliver the keynote speech at the Pre-Gridiron Dinner Luncheon. That speech is for journalists. Wonder what he'll tell them? He's always good for a surprise... Dean's speech will be on CSPAN at 1:15pm EST on Saturday. I don't know if this information is accurate---I got it off from a diary on dailykos.com and if this is true, then may Novak burn in hell forever for spoofing Joe Wilson!
