How did Gore lose states even Dukakis won?
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 03:46 AM by fujiyama
I know I had a thread a week or so on Gore's campaign mistakes, but I was looking at the percentages and it's pretty shocking how badly Gore did in states that Dukakis won by pretty decent margins.

For example, Iowa, Oregon and Minnesota (Gore won IA and OR by less than 1%), are threee states Gore carried by a small percentage. Dukakis carried Minnesota by some 10%. Dukakis also carried West Virginia, which Gore lost.

On edit, I just realized my own mistake -- Nader made up for that small amount in most of those states but not in WV.

6. Second most in history.
Gore got about 51 million. Reagan got about 54.5 million in '84.

5. The Answer: Bill Clinton
Clinton's popularity helped Gore carry that many states. Gore is a shit campaigner and has no personality. Then he chooses a Republican basically to team with him. He's lucky he won the popular vote quite frankly because Bill got that much for him almost by default. If Gore had even half of Bill's charisma the end results of 2000 would have been far different especially in his home state.

7. I think he was bad because he would not be what he was.
He is sort of an up-tight man and that is how he should have run.
