A Call to arms....again!
Back on Dec. 23rd I posted a thread that mostly got ignored in the constant flame wars that were going on....now that the primaries are over, it is important that everyone realize that the fight is not just for the Presidency, that we will need everyone fighting everywhere to create the Perfect Democratic Storm and hammer the repugs with everything we've got....

So please take some time to consider my thoughts here:

Many here have expressed their view that if specific candidates win the nomination, that they are not going to participate or will vote for a third party candidate. This thread is not an argument against that viewpoint, and I ask that it not become that.

What I am suggesting is that if this is in fact the case, let me offer you an alternative that will do just as much to unseat Bush and the repugs....

Too many of the Dems do absolutely nothing with regards to helping the party win on election day. There are many reasons for this, you live in a repug district, you are turned off by the dem who represents you, etc...

The key here is to drain the swamp of the repug money farm....if we can make the repugs compete in as many areas as possible, this will divert more and more funds away from concentration of resources...

So, if you choose to not support our nominee, or will just vote...put your energies into getting a dem elected to the governorship, Senate, House, state legislature, school board, hell...dog catcher....push them everywhere!!!!!

Go to the DNC for information on dem federal candidates....

Look up your state's dem party organization....

Do something....make them pay everywhere!!!!

Too often we have surrendered the fight, but if we can raise the costs of a state legislative race by even $2,000, we have hurt the repugs....a House race by $20,000...we have hurt the repugs....

Put some effort somewhere...and together we can bring the entire stinking house of cards called the Republican Party down!!!

Think of it like serving in the national guard....two weekends a month and four weeks in the summer.....

Should you protest against doing even this....I suggest that you first take a look at this web page...than talk to me about how valuable your "time" is...

good luck one and all...

1. I'm giving my time, money and energy
to local democrats at the state level.....I'll let the DLC/DNC spend their own money now. The need here in Ohio is great, to boot out the stale repugs.

3. Good for you!
Even if you can't/won't support the Dem nominee, there are still dozens of ways one can fight the conservative crime family.

Every bit counts.

4. amen...
I'm going to be trying to raise $42 million for 42 House races this election cycle...

If we can organize and get a central progressive-liberal network that allows us to pool our money as a PAC collection site, than we could conceivably raise that amount...

All it would take is 350,000 people who would donate $20 a month for six months...and we have our $42 million....

Hopefully we can do this because I want to watch DeLay's head explode with frustration....

6. Yes! Support Richard Morrison!!!!
This is WAY more than a local Texas race! This has MAJOR national improtance! Help us evict Tom Delay! This is going to be a very expensive race, and Morrison can use all the help he can get.

7. From his website... any local voters... volunteers for Mar 9, needed.
see his website.

Advantage of having signs/materials up at polling sites in primaries - is a great way to begin increasing name recognition. Sounds small - but the power of planting that name recognition - lasts. Then any story in the paper where the name is mention - registers, and a little more conscience thought is given to reading the story.

9. TO ARMS!
I agree, the only way to win, to swing the pendulum leftward, is through action, make the rethugs play defense

10. Act now... on any or all levels... want a more progressive
democratic party in congress - support progressive candidates? How do you find those - try checking in periodically with progressivemajority.com

a snip about PM

Progressive Majority has a clear and bold purpose: To elect progressive champions who will help change the direction of this country. We will do this by building a nationwide member network that will provide much-needed early support to progressive candidates - helping them to win elections and bring our values back into the halls of government.

Progressive Majority is your one-stop connection to innovative and idealistic candidates working to build a practical — and progressive — future. Progressive Majority will foster the emergence of a talented "farm team" of future progressive leaders and decision-makers in Washington, DC and in the states. We know it's not going to happen overnight. But it can happen with disciplined strategies, determination and yes, your dollars.

a snip from a section about their agenda

The Progressive Majority Agenda: A Future Worth Fighting For
No one agrees on everything — especially progressives. But here at Progressive Majority, our focus is on the common sense values that unite us. We're solely devoted to electing people who will lead the fight for economic justice, civil rights, health care, education, the environment, and reproductive freedom.

Most Americans want a more just, more enlightened country — one that pays its workers a living wage, that bans sweatshops and keeps our food safe, that guarantees comprehensive affordable health care for all, that invests in high quality education for our children, that ensures dignity and security for seniors, that protects civil and political rights, that stays out of our bedrooms and private lives, and that works to protect the air we breathe, and the water we drink. These are majority positions — just not in the current Congress or many state legislatures. With your help, we aim to change that fact.

PM's advisors - members:

Progressive Majority's Advisory Committee
Progressive Majority's Advisory Committee is comprised of incumbent lawmakers who are currently waging the tough fights against the Bush Administration and the conservatives who control Congress. They are instrumental in helping us identify progressive leaders throughout the United States to run for office, and they advise us on the issues that are emerging as critical battlegrounds in the Congress and in the States.

11. right on Nazgul
The NH House has been controlled by the Republican party since the Civil War. We may not take over, already more people are committed to run than ever before. Dems are running in places where they've never run. I'm working to raise money and support these folks. I ran in 2002, and I'm mentoring the candidates in my district.

The northern 3 counties in my state are banding together to form a big voice in Concord. We've been ignored for years - not any more! We're organizing, and we plan to change the way things are done. No more state caucuses 3 hours away, for starters.

We have to ditch our multimillionare governor - Benson must go. In NH ABB swings several ways. We need progressive change in NH - if we could march into the 21st century this year, it would be a victory!

We can support candidates in other states, too. We need to sweep a lot of rotten folks out of office. Get that broom ready.
