269-269 electoral college tie?
There are lots of ways it can happen, the most likely is probably...

We hold all the Gore states + win NH and WV or NV.

1. Don't discount Louisiana.
Granted, I'm in Louisiana, but I really feel like this state is bleeding blue.

Later.

2. The House would break the tie in the Presidential race...

The Senate would break the VP tie.

So potentially you could end up with a Prez and a VP from different parties. Not this year, though, not with the Republicans controlling both houses.

3. And what that means is we need a BIG victory in Nov.
But we already knew that, right? If it is close, the thugs will steal it, one way or another.

Pull the straight ticket lever and ask your friends to do the same.

4. We don't have levers...
or straight-ticket voting in Ohio. :)

You have to vote each race individually.

5. But there's.....
Ralph Nader ready to screw things up. In today's L.A. Times he says he's doing the Dems a favor. Okay?? On the one hand, because we Demmies are cringing at the thought of him running again, will hopefully bring more voter turn-out--especially for Kerry. Then, there's the dreadful possibility of Nader f*#king it up again. Doesn't he learn his lessons??AAaaaaaarrgggghhhhh!

6. You can't blame the DLC's weak pathetic choice of a candidate on Nader..
I'm not a big fan of Ralphie's alleged presidential ambitions, but the bottom line is that the Democratic party had the opportunity to bring in voters who had long taken themselves out of the process. They fucked up bigtime by pulling a bait and switch with status quo establishment DLC waffle boy.

So if he can't pull off a win, Kerry fans, start with the mirror when you are looking for a scapegoat.

10. That won't help in this case
It will be the current, pre-inaguration house/senate.

However, always vote pure Democrat. The president needs all the legislative help he can get.

12. I don't think so...
doesn't the new congress start on like January 3, a week or so before they certify votes from the electoral college? Perhaps I'm wrong.

7. When are Congressional politicians sworn in for the upcoming
Congressional session? And when would the date of the vote take place in both chambers?

8. How do they determine the winner in case of a tie?
Shootout?
Drink off?
Duel?
Dueling banjos?
Danceathon?
Coin toss?
Dwarf toss?

11. each state gets a vote
not every member right. So who controls the delegations matter, not necessarily pure numbers.

And the new congress would be sworn in before the electors vote, so it is imperative that we get back Congress, in case this does happen!
