If someone says something you think is stupid, you ignore them. If the idiots who post the threads you don't like, get no responses. Eventually they will move along and find another board, because idiots need attention.

If they don't get attention, they will leave.

2. well
I suspect most people post here because they LIKE debating. If we ignored everyone we disagreed with every thread would be like this:

OP: I like (insert topic here)
replies:

1: me too
2: So do I!
3: Ditto!
4: Yup!
5: boy howdy, do I agree

etc. etc. etc.

10. It's not a matter of
ignoring everyone we disagree with. It's a matter of ignoring obvious flamebait, dishonest posts, and disruptors.

If I see a thread that is clear flamebait, I alert it, and then hide it. Usually when I go back a few days later and unhide it, it was long ago locked.

And the time I used to waste on flamebait before the hide threads feature was horrendous. It's much better now....

to post on the "sedentary life of deep sea spotted clams"
I'm sure my fellow DU'er's were looking foward to it.

5. For instance, I think Nader is almost not worth talking about
so I usually hide any thread that mentions his name in the title.

6. I agree, plus it dangerously raises one's blood pressure
to engage in frustrating dialogues with stupid, angry people.

freeper fill in the blank, co-worker, brother in law, neighbor. And then they post this big long screed. Of course they have to put in that they think Bush is a @#$&$ or else it would be a little too obvious. I think it is best if we just let them hang out there.
