HUFFPO: Obama Likely to Defeat McCain. McCain Likely to Defeat Clinton >

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/miles-mogulescu/obama-likely-to-defeat-mc_b_85009.html

Picture this: It's January 20, 2009 and John McCain is being sworn in as president, promising in his inaugural address to make the Bush tax cuts permanent and keep American troops in Iraq for 100 years. If you're a Democratic voter on Super Tuesday, you must vote for the candidate who makes this scenario least likely. That candidate is clearly Barack Obama.

Sunday's Washington Post/ABC poll shows Obama defeating McCain 49%-46% while McCain beats Clinton 49%-46%. Sunday's Cook Political Report/RT Strategies poll shows Obama defeating McCain 45%-43% and McCain defeating Clinton 45%-41%. Both polls give Obama a 6 point advantage over Clinton in a match-up with McCain.

These most recent polls are consistent with numerous polls taken over the past year, most, but not all, of which show McCain defeating Clinton. A January 10-12 Financial Dynamics poll shows McCain defeating Clinton 48%-45% and Obama defeating McCain 43%-42%. A December 12-14 Zogby Poll shows McCain defeating Clinton 49%-42% and Obama defeating McCain 47%-43%, a 10 point advantage for Obama over Clinton.

1. That could very well happen.
Hillary is the only candidate McCain has a chance at beating. Only Hillary can unite all Republicans.

2. These polls seem to change
every week. I don't know what to believe.

I think both candidates have a good chance of beating McCain if they just hammer him on "more of the same".

3. I hear my very red neighbors saying they would vote Obama over McCain or Romney
But would vote anybody over HRC.

I don't like that the anti-Clinton vehemence is still so strong, and mostly still without much real logical basis, but I cannot deny that it is out there. It is a big concern.

5. I try not to live by polls that tell us
what's going to happen over six months from now, they're always wrong. Always.

7. I think either could beat McCain handily and I'll tell you why
All the candidate needs to do is show pictures of McCain and Bush playing the guitar, hugging, and eating cake while New Orleans was drowning. That image alone will sink McCain like a stone (if the candidate is smart enough to use it).

9. McCain wasn't there for the guitar part. They ate cake together on Monday.
While the storm was raging Bush & McCain ate cake in AZ. On Tuesday when the floods broke the levies Bush strummed guitar in San Diego. Then he flew to Crawford to relax on Tuesday night while the citizens of NOLA screamed for help from their rooftops.

12. It's not a theory offered by Obama.
It's an article based on the polling - why don't you read it?

17. Clinton has 20 years of opposition research against her...
that doesnt' make her vetted.... it makes her a liability.

Besides... this is just a claim without data or a warrant. You one sentense snide remarks all over the place basically GRANT every argument presented by the Author...

Article provides data to back up their claims..
1. Polls have indicated for a long time that Barack beats McCain
2. GOP base hates McCain but they hate clinton worse and would coaless around McCain. Obama would bleed McCain GOP support.
3. Independents will break for McCain over Hillary and just getting Dems guarrentees defeat. Obama can crush McCain with Independents.

Your claim:
1. Wait until MSM goes after him.

1. Your argument is a claim anddefensive at best. You have conceed the arguments made by the author.
2. In addition, MSM is conspiracy theory which isn't exactly credible...
3. Plus if GOP attack Obama through the MSM - it feeds his arguments about the politics of devisiveness. It will just drive more people to Obama.

16. hate to break it to you, but neither Obama or Hillary will end the war fast enough.
That's just the facts.

As far as Obama beating McCain, both Hillary and Obama have the same chance.

18. Clearly not.!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean you don't answer the arguments presented by the author.

1. Polls
2. Clinton mobalizes hesetant GOP support to McCain
3. Independents tend to support McCain so you need someone capable of sapping large amounts of independent votes.

Hillary nomination essentially means a McCain Presidency...
