I think I was RIGHT, then WRONG, then back to RIGHT: Huckabee as Veep Pairing on GOP Side
I think the funny business in the WV GOP reindeer games today signifies the nod and wink from McCain to the rest of the party that Huckabee will be his sop to the right-wing conservatives.

Blech. What an awful thing to be right about this season.

I think today, McCain set Huck up to be a "winnuh!" so that Romney is left saying, "I coulda been a contenduh."

Blech.

This is going to be a tough fight. Luckily the oppo research file on McCain and Huckabee both is deep, deep, deep, deep, deep.

Thank Heaven for small favors, though I'm still crying tears in my beers over John. I miss John today. Yep.

How uneasy must McCain be?

Feeling a little Dole-y?

14. If anything could make me love Hillary
It's Huckabee on the Republican ticket, top or bottom. McCain wouldn't do that, surely he wouldn't. Maybe the Huck will get to head up the Office of Chuch Payola or something. I just cannot believe McCain would make him VP. :scared:

15. Consider the massive amount of underground support he's gotten
Between him and Ron Paul, the gop underlings have more or less said who they like,. and it's none of the "front runners".
Mind you, thankfully, they still represent a minority in the US overall, but the gop faithful are total nutters! Look at who they live, Ron Paul - who would rape and gut, and rape some more the government, and destroy as much of it as he could get away with, and Huckabery who wants to make the bible a guide for re-tooling the constitution (something that's already been going on for a while now)

the problem is, aside from being TOTALLY FUCKING NUTS, they also hold many populist views, like getting the hell out of Iraq, and cleansing the impure, in government, isolationism, etc.

Ideals people tend to run towards when they are afraid of accepting reality(racism, xenophobia, general hate). "It's the damned Jews' fault Germany is fucked up... never mind the WAR we lost!"

16. Huckabee appeals to large swaths of Upper South/Border States/Appalachia...
... and he's been the one I've been eyeing most nervously all along. He could be a significant headwind for flipping some states that have been trending purplish to blue.

17. Sure, but he's not qualified
I guess if McCain would suck up to Bush he'd do anything to win. But Huckabee, that is quite a bit to have to swallow on a daily basis for someone like McCain, don't you think? No, I can't even think about it. I will have nightmares. No no. I have to erase that image out of my head right now.

22. Huck might help McCain with the Rep. base, but...
...given how old McCain is, people are going to have to think very seriously about the likelihood of Huckabee becoming President too.

While that would please the religious right enormously, the rest of the country is going to be very afraid of a man who thinks the Constitution needs to be re-written in accordance with a literal reading of the Bible being a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
